Beautiful Blemish

You are my sweet addiction
a lovely high on a low day
wanting  nothing  but,  to feel you
running  through my veins

the one my heart craves
my body quakes and quivers
for your gentle touch

You are my love addiction
my deepest affliction

haunting me in my dreams
reaching out from beyond
I'm lost within your arms

wanting you more each day
what can mere words say
my heart on display

You are my sweet addiction
my deepest affliction

surrendering my emotions
to you my spirit yields
filled with loving devotion

You are my sweet addiction
the cure to my compulsion
three simple words of conviction

I Love You!

  10. The rhyme and repetition are nice. The haunting and dreaming is a theme I've been reading a lot of lately. Some of the most beautiful writing is born from desire that hasn't been touched.

  11. Terrific pace and flow to this one. It almost reads like lyrics to a song. Only con crit, not sure I like the ending, (but for a good reason!) because the rest of the poem is so unique that the final line seems awkward. Still, that hardly diminishes your work. Nice job, poet!

  13. I swear I thought you were talking about addiction to alcohol--see? A one-track mind! But I Loved it, no matter the interpretation.
    Example:

    "...my sweet addiction
a lovely high on a low day
wanting nothing but, to feel you
    running through my veins"

    "...my heart craves
    my body quakes and quivers."

    You are my love addiction
    my deepest affliction

    haunting me in my dreams
    reaching out from beyond
    I'm lost within your arms

    "...wanting you more each day..."
    "...my sweet addiction
    my deepest affliction"

Can you see what I mean? 'Cause I'm a recovering alcoholic Peep!

Thanks for your kind words today...very supportive.

    1. Hi Steve,

Thanks so much for reading my work and for sharing your deep thoughts on this piece. I guess addiction holds the same fundamental traits whether it be love, alcohol or substance abuse. Its about the craving..I can see where you are coming from and I am glad I could be supportive in some small way..taking one day at a time..I hope all your days flow with ease and wish you peace in your daily journey..
