Lavender Fields

In the predawn my spirit restless
seeking you in the meadow of light
whispering pines sway in the breeze
I recall a time a picture in my mind

My ears tuning in a beautiful hymn
a  voice flowing freely in the air
my body warms to a rising sun
I recall a song a melody in my heart

Silent moments in a distant horizon
we sat on the brink of endless devotion
intertwined in the hands of time
I recall a love beyond forever

We felt each other
       felt everything
             felt nothing..
lost in the world we built, forever spinning...

You were mine and I was yours
in a field of lavender dreams
captivated by your sweet aroma
I recall the lingering hints of pleasure

My spirit flew within your embrace
soaring,  high in an azure sky
songs drifting in the winds of change
I recall a flight of two souls

Our eyes met in another realm
searching for a deeper meaning
to this life we live, the love we share
I recall a vision in an orange sunset

We felt each other
       felt everything
            felt nothing..
lost in the world we built, forever spinning...

  3. I like how you use the lavender fields to express the emotions of this poem. There is a lavender farm near my home in Reno and the scents, the hum of bees...it's magical!

  12. I love the lines "felt everything, felt nothing"-- for me, it is when you can allow yourself to be with someone and just..feel...nothing, and that is okay, then that is all you need, everything, and nothing. ~peace, Jason

    1. Hi Ginny,

Originally, I had a song in mind when I started writing this but, the pen moved more into a poem..so that is where it brought me. Thank you for your reply.

  15. This is beautiful, sensuous and romantic. May I suggest one small alteration?

    In this line:

'My spirit flew within your embrace
soaring, high in a blue azure sky'

the word 'blue' is redundant. I would remove it and change 'a' to 'an'. I think you'll find it helps the ryhthm too.
