Inner Child A Trip - dVerse April 27, 2013

I feel the breeze through my  hair
blowing gently, feather light
walking through the park
pausing,  I sit  on  a worn bench
children are playing in the grass
and I ask
where is that little girl, who once was me
she used to sing on a swing
so at ease and full of life
seems she grew up overnight

within the hands of time

She appears to have disappeared
somewhere between here and there
I take a trip into the past
recalling colorful snapshot in my mind
there she is running fast
climbing trees,  so carefree
braided hair
watching drifting clouds
she is dreaming of the future
from afar, she smiles and waves to me

a lovely trip down memory lane

  1. Be nice to stay there for a while
As bills and the 9 to 5 is vile lol
Does seem to go by quick
    With one simple click
Can be little and no cares
To old and falling out hairs lol
Of course one can go from little to fat
    But we won;t mention that
    As age or not
All one has to do is eat a whole lot
    Now I will go
    Before something you throw

    1. Pat,

You are funny and no hair loss yet
      I walked/ran two 1/2 miles today
in the park, and that was the spark
for my part in this trip
It would be grand not to pay bills
that is for sure, but off to work I go
trying not to go from little to fat
so you better leave it at that..
      or something I may throw..(smiling)

    2. Not scared at all
      Here at my hall
As you'd have to have a really good arm
To reach me throwing anything and cause harm haha

    3. Ha ha,

      I just saw this tidbit
my arm is not that strong
      and I would never throw
      anything to harm, may
      swing a word or two
      within your hall but,
all in fun under your sun..

you are too funny..thanks for the smile..

  2. This is such a touching poem. I have written a poem or two that has this 'flavor' as well. Really amazing how fast time passes, isn't it? It IS nice to touch base with that child in one as often as one can. Glad you wrote this!

    1. Mary,

Thanks so much! I agree time is always traveling and sometimes it is nice to reach out to your inner child. I'll tell you a secret I still like to sit on a swing and dream as I cloud watch.

  4. Cool take, both of "you" communicating across time, observing each other. Yes, time moves way too fast. I haven't figured out a way to slow it down either. The best we can do is reminisce to bring the past forward, I guess.

  7. There is a story of the paleontologist who found two skulls in a cave--one of a man as a young boy and one of the man, he decided. That's definitely how it feels some times! A lovely way to try to recapture. k.

    1. Thank you so much, we are only a child for a short period of time but, we can keep the spirit of the child alive within our adult skin.

  9. I think if we allow the child within us to die, we will cease to live.

  14. This made me smile... Time passes so invisibly, we are there, then we are here, I love the idea of waving to our future self, as we stand there, watching our past.

  17. I wonder about the same thing more often than is probably good for me. Time's a-flying. That doesn't mean we should be crying. Just keep trying.

    1. Good morning!

Time is always flying there is no way to halt the hourglass but, we can enjoy the moments as they gently sift through our fingers.
