May 18, 2013 - imaginary garden tree artist interpretation

Under the black canopy of night
apparitions  beckon  to be heard
arise my friend, let your spirit take flight
beyond the portal, on the wings of a bird

slipping through the foggy mist
ancient water drums, beating strong
dreamway, where we can co-exist
turtle rattles shake , playing their songs

full moon illuminates the shadows
hidden within the forest canvas
spirit dwellers lost in quiet swallows
eerie silence, caught in the hands of madness

behold the path to transformation
moccasins are  worn but,  know the way
lanterns planted on  the tree's foundation
capturing the magical wonder on display

walking firmly on the path, spirits guide
wolves hidden, outstretched  branches
dark knowing eyes,  deep howling cries
 alpha and omega united forces

when wolves cry, the earth quakes
fear not the journey,  the quest is at hand
time of transition, changing shapes
leading lost souls to the promised land

Author's note: The challenge set before us was to observe the ambiance (mood, character, quality, tone atmosphere) of a drawing you choose and write a poetry response in any which way you please. This is my take on what I saw within the landscape of my mind. The picture was a true inspiration.

  2. But the journey sounds scary to me
    Might make the kitty flee
That is a good idea I just had
The cat will send a flea to the scary pad
    Then if he comes back
    The cat will attack
    If not though
You journey alone at your show haha

    1. The journey can be a bit scary
      as you face the darkness
that cat is always up to mischief
but, cats are mysterious and should
      embrace the journey..for who knows
what he will behold, in the lantern of night

Something to Ponder Pat and his cat..

    2. True who knows indeed
Will always be the same at our feed
If we don't get off our rump
An go over the scary hump

  6. You definitely caught the spirit of the picture, those truths that live in the shadows, that are revealed with just a little light. I like the working in of the idea of transition in the last stanza. It brings the process to a near completion. Cool
