Blues - dVerse May 14, 2013

pic by Truedessa

Spend my nights thinking of you
lost on the road of pain
pour me a drink fill it to the rim
a shot of brandy, warm and hot
flowing through my brain and veins
a rainy night, singing the blues
swaying hips to a moaning tune

in love with a ghost
in love with a ghost
heard he flew  to the coast

Drowning my sorrow
not waitin' for tomorrow
pour me a drink fill it to the rim
a shot of Johnny Walker Red will do
one more please, need some release
a rainy night, singing the blues
swaying hips to a moaning tune

need some attention
need some attention
what's your intention

babe I'm missing you
can't you feel me hummin'
as the rain hits the window pane
feelin' kinda in that funky mood
movin' real slow and smooth
a rainy night,  singing the blues
swaying hips to a moaning tune

thinking of you

Author's note - Feeling sort of blue today so for Open Link Night decided to sing a song...hope you don't mind...

  2. Sometimes a poet has to sing the blues; and you sing them well. And the missing comes through very strongly....well penned. And sing any time.

  3. Yeah, those days happen, usually when love goes missing. Thankfully as creative folks we can transfer those feelings to poems or songs. It helps a bit. Like the feel of this one.

    1. Claudia,

I agree sometimes our souls are just weepy and it helps to sing as you get caught in the melody of dreams. I do not play the sax it belongs to someone I know I just took the picture but, I do love the sound of a sax.

  8. Now you and that blue guy
Are one in the same under your sky
    Both feeling blue
Just don't turn blue at your zoo
    That would not do
And just shout out a rhyme or two
    That will help it pass
    Maybe you just had gas
And the emotions got confused a bit
But either way go ahead and sing it LOL

      Better not make it last
      But your lyrics ring true
Now what d'you want me to do:
To be happy or blue? ;)

    2. Ah, there's my friend at my flat
      well you know those blues
      sometimes they can play
a number or two on any given day
      perhaps, my emotions got confused
a rhyme is always fun to do
      chase those blues away, feel
      the suns golden rays...
      thanks for stopping by...

What can I say we all have our blue days
but, sometimes they are tinted with grey
as a cloud passes by over a blue sky
crystal teardrops in my eyes..it won't
last long as I sing my song .. I know
you are a blue sort of guy, not sure
how you should feel..happy or blue
I'll leave that up to you ..smiling

    4. Good, you keep singing that song
Not making the blueness last long
I keep smiling when I know I feel blue
      With the Cat and Truedessa
      Feeling blue at my....
      Zoo.

  14. Pain & loneliness are the true background upon which the blues are painted. Throw in some liquor and slow moving swaying hips and the musical montage begins to blossom before your eyes!! Your bluesy feel shines in your lyrics !! As a musician to change the feel I just shift to a more upbeat tuning !! My post on open link night is a demonstration of this, in case your curious !!

    1. Hello,

Thank you for the wonderful comment. I agree the blues convey pain, loneliness and heartbreak in such a manner that you can actually hear and feel it within your soul. I will be sure to jump over to your site to see your work as I am a bit curious. Again, thank you!
