Metamorphosis - dVerse

Desert Delight

endless beauty, majestic scenery
visionaries we traverse the desert
humming vortex of magnetic energy
ancient gatekeepers stand alert

tingling sensation, mounting anticipation
portal  to another worldly dimension

valley of the gods

perched high above the canyon walls
your hand rests in mine,  meditating
drums echo in the chambers, bald eagle calls
hues of burnt yellow orange radiating

desert willows, juniper trees, wild cactus flowers
chiseling the barrier of our human towers

ascent to a higher plane

silence hovers, consciousness drifts down stream
ghostly apparitions, ancient dwellers of mysticism
we float into  a primitive dream
levitating our being, entrancing illusion-ism

mirages, form before our eyes
we long to fly the azure sky

transformation under a desert sun

arms burst into beautiful wings
legs sprout strong talons
our animal spirit sings
soaring the heavens we merge wild & free

two thunder-birds
fly sun-ward

beautiful metamorphosis

    1. Hi Brian,

Thanks for the visit and comment. I was striving for that type of feel as I study ancient cultures and spirit totems.

  3. The cat likes to eat birds
He was licking his lips at your words
    You can soar away
Just don't land at our bay
Or the cat may have to spring into action
A bird may become a fraction
So just rest on the canyon walls
Or fly to bora bora's hall
That would sure be the way
    To do it each day

    1. Cat, I know you were licking
      your lips with the thought
      of a catch..but, this is a
      fast bird..it might catch
you instead..then off we go to
      bora bora bay..for the day..

  8. Hey you...

The photo detracts from the poem...that looks like it could be a photo from one of my most favorite places in the United States... Monument Valley out in NE AZ... I've been there several times.

To me, it's one of the most spiritual places I've ever been in my Life, and is one of the places to which I need to return when I feel 'out of step' with Life.

    1. Hi Shoes,

Thanks for coming over for a visit..that photo is beautiful..I've never been there but, I've been reading about deserts and the spiritual power they seem to possess. They say you can hear the humming..oh, to be perched on the cliff would be mesmerizing..I think you would have an inner healing a new focus/direction. Yes, a good place to get in step with life.

PS - Working on that poem ...

  9. Hey you... Monument Valley and 'The Mittens'... google that for images... supposedly has vortices... that channel powers that are supposed to have a positive effect on our chakras...

From the standpoint of vortices, supposedly the most dramatic place that I am aware of is Sedona, AZ... I have spent several hours there, but not long enough to 'tune in' to the powers that are said to exist there.

I would love to go back to either place!

    1. Thanks Shoes..I will check these out..that would be such a spiritual experience..I know I could zone in on the powers/or perhaps the powers would zone in on me..either way it would be exhilarating.

      thanks again..have a great night!

    2. Ahh... you changed the photo. It seems that could be Monument Valley as well, but the truth known, that part of the country is loaded with so many vistas like that one.

    3. How about this one? I really like this one from Monument Valley Totem Pole..now this one is really symbolic. Tell me what you think & did you have the chance to see this when you were there? I am simply awestruck by the beauty.

    4. I have been to 'Totem Pole' several times... There are actually three (if my memory is correct) of those 'stele-like' objects right there in that vicinity of Monument Valley.

I have some posts over at my blog of Monument Valley and some of the photos... I will send you some of my photos later. My most vivid memory of Monument Valley was about 5 years ago... a friend and I had driven out there... and when we were leaving the area, a huge thunderstorm blew up... and I had this feeling that I was supposed to be there.. supposed to see something that was about to happen. I asked my friend if we could stop and watch, but he wanted to move on... and, as if on cue, the storm dissipated that quickly. So I think I was correct.

I'm of the opinion that I am more spiritual than I am religious... so this place holds a special place in my psyche...

      It is beautiful.

    5. Hi,

Oh, thanks so much for sharing your adventure..it must have been a breathtaking view. I do believe that there was something there for you to see and when you changed your course the storm changed it's course. Talk about synchronicity. I too am more spiritual as I have had many happenings in my journey or should I say my quest.

I will head back to your blog later today when I have more time. I would really enjoy seeing any pictures you would like to share with me.

      Thank you my friend...

    9. Hey you...

I SAW the head... but it wasn't until you pointed out the rest of it!!

You are SO right!!!! I did NOT notice the clouds that would be wings, but even moreso, I did NOT notice the sun rays that would be the tail of the Thunder Bird!!!

Thank you SO much for pointing that out to me!!!

    10. Hey you..(smiling)

I am so glad you were able to see the wonder in the sky..totally breathtaking..I wish it had been me to see that wonder first hand. You were given a great gift that day. The great spirit bird watches over you..take comfort in that always..

      You are welcome...

  10. Liking this very much, I was "there" letting those beating drums of prayer and meditation seep through my body and soul.

Final six lines are where I also landed, the changes happening right before our eyes. But this line meant even more, to me:
"...soaring the heavens we merge wild & free..."

    Smoking the pipe of PEACE!

  12. In Australia we would call thus a Tjuranga, a geographical talisman designed to remind someone of their home country, to strengthen the bond, it is maternal in nature. Every rock , outcrop river and hill was a being that emerged in the dreamtime to create the earth, afterwards sinking back into the landscape, leaving an outline....
I loved your words in relation to this Tjurunga, im sure it means plenty to the local Indians ..l.

    1. Good Morning,

Thank you for visiting and leaving such a wonderful comment. I really enjoyed reading about the Tjuranga. There are many sacred places that hold power. All things are from the earth, sun and sky and should be revered with respect. Dream quests hold the answers to many things in life. Again, thank you for sharing a piece of Australian history with me.

May we always find the path to dreams...
