Harvest Moon

Under the glow of a full harvest moon
she roams the night soft radiant light
seeking answers in a turquoise lagoon
on bended knee,  world of thoughts

cloak of darkness, concealing emotion
before her eyes visions flash, misty sky
reading love letters sealed devotion
spoken in a tongue only she understands

pines swaying, waiting autumn breeze
new melody stirs, tall dreaming firs
birds fly on restless wings, tree to tree
summer kiss, sultry days we'll miss

gathering song under a harvest moon
howls in the mist, wolf silently prowls
captivating  heaven & earth swoon
wooden flute, chanting praises

golden hues, dew touches her lips
stars dart across a drumming heart
removing her cloak, naked she dips
answers found  in a turquoise lagoon

  7. This is a beautiful lyrical piece of writing. I think you've written to the longer ballad form - each line has four stresses - which I didn't mention at dVerse, but is a reall common variant of the 4,3,4,3 ballad form.

  12. that turquoise lagoon took me someplace entirely other, with the harvest moon of course still shining down, but perhaps the wolf would be found elsewhere.
very evocative. i like this a lot.

    1. Marian,

That moon has been splendid this week..ah but, what would a full moon be without the cries of a wolf nearby..as he is a creature of the moon with a haunting voice.
