What Happens After Midnight

your songs echo through my soul
love so tender, rich and bold
heart beating forever strong
within the sweet melody of love

your  rhythm entwined with mine
we dance slowly and easily
within reach of heaven's arms
waltzing in a lover's dream

you are my moon, stars & sun
without you I am a song unsung
lyrics drifting in the midnight air
a songbird, in a gilded cage

you are my mind, body & soul
without you I cannot soar
strike the chord & I will fly
upward to the magic of the sky

lay a wish upon my pillow
as I slowly drift to  sleep
ever  changing  kaleidoscope,
visions of whispering dreams

music softly playing on the radio
we dance cheek to cheek
two silhouettes, in moonlight
where your heart leads I follow

if, I am dreaming wake me not
for I long to dance to the beat
behind the veil of innocence
hungry lips urgently meet

what happens after midnight
secrets beneath the sheets

  1. What happens may not be so secret when done
If the walls are thin under ones sun
    Or moon
Like the cat's sand dune lol
But ahh to be in such a state
Where two becoming one is a fate
    Can't really ask for more
    As each other you explore

    1. Hi Pat,

Well I guess some secrets will
have to be said in a whisper
      beneath the sheets of discovery
as who knows what will be said
      after midnight...

  4. Truedessa, I have felt exactly this way:

"...you are my mind, body & soul
    without you I cannot soar
strike the chord & I will fly
upward to the magic of the sky.."

It can hurt to give oneself in such totality to another, and, in the end, not quite so true...
    as Truedessa

  9. Ah, the time after midnight in your poem sounds lie a magical time. A wonderful time to hear that soft music and have the feeling of being able to "fly upward to the magic of the sky." And those secrets between the sheets should never be revealed. Smiles.

  10. According to J.J. Cale...

... after midnight, we're gonna let it all hang out.

    He said so... ;o)

    Isn't midnight the Witching Hour?

Didn't Cinderella turn back into a pumpkin at midnight??

Inquiring minds want to know!!!! ;o)

    1. Hey Shoes,

Nice to see you my friend! I always enjoy reading your thoughtful and entertaining comments.

Yes, that is a good song indeed..
After Midnight we're gonna shake your tambourine..now, you have that song in my head..lol..

The witching hour it could be I've heard that saying before and it is when magic happens..well, Cinderella still made out as she left behind a glass slipper for her prince to find..that is magical for sure...

Midnight when you say goodbye to one day and welcome in a new one..sort of magical if you ask me...

I'm doing ok Shoes and how about you?
