Narrow Ledges

Narrow ledges, living on the edge
difficult distinguishing reality
in this realm they call life
high above the city lights
noise pollution, crowd pollution
hate, crime and greed
lurk on the city streets below
lost souls busy scaling city walls
need to reach a higher elevation
understanding; new revelation

Climbing, Higher
Reaching for that star above

Walking narrow ledges
no excuses, for the abuses
mild contusion & confusion
freedom from the delusions
cut the harness, inhale/exhale
gasping for air, need to breathe
come follow me, open rooftops
wipe away our fears & tears
you & I seeking universal light
on narrow ledges, making pledges

Climbing, Higher, almost there
Reaching for that star above

There’s a view I want you to see
a place where our spirits can be free
each step filled with anticipation
one step closer to salvation
intense feeling of elation
walking narrow ledges
hang on tight, guiding light
time of reflection, new direction
embracing freedom on narrow ledges

Climbing, Higher we are there
shining bright with that star above...

  2. I think we always hope to find a better place above all the ills of earthly life at times. A greater plane from where to be seemingly happier...

  4. Getting higher and higher
    Where things are less dire
    Just a place to be
    Two if by sea
But many refuse to walk the ledge
Afraid they'd fall of the edge
    Never knowing what could be
Too busy stuck with the crap below like a busy bee
Merry Christmas and all of that
From Pat and the cat lol

Narrow ledges can offer unwanted resistance. It's what make life interesting though! Nicely Truedessa!

    1. Hi Hank,

That is true but, sometimes we have to walk narrow ledges to reach a place of beauty..Always nice to read your thoughts..Thank you !

  13. Is it not true (Ha! "Truedessa")
that as we come to "see"
    some speciality in life
    --or out of it...in light--
    our wish is to share.
    Spread the news,
    let another be aware

"There’s a view I want you to see..."
    (you wrote! and implied)
And I want you to see it with me.

    How beautifully you write, Trudessa,
and what a beautiful thought, inspired,
which I here and now received from
    ledges so
    narrow.

PEACE and LIGHT! And Merry Christmas!

  16. I am afraid of height and the thought of a narrow ledge completely freezes me. Interesting that it would be inspiring otherwise . . .

  17. I find this poem remarkably sad after today's news of the father and son and the highrise. I know that was not the intention of this poem, it is but the circumstances of when I read it.
