Deer Heart

I am a creature of the land
heart of gentleness free spirit
many seek my mystical powers
listening to cries of each conch shell
carrying their weight upon my back
why, do you feel the need to collar me
look into my dark eyes, feel my pain
hunters come to track me down
camouflage I  hide in tall green pines
sprinting  between dark  shadows
seeing behind the mask of deception
my antlers are strong reaching skyward
would you wound me with your arrows
healing & regeneration my gift rebirth
balance lays in love and compassion
heart of gentleness free spirit
I am a creature of the land
deer heart..

for sure...i wonder if the animals could talk what
they would say...maybe they would teach us
    to find that free spirit...

    1. Hi Brian,

I think they would teach us about compassion
and respecting nature a bit more.

  2. Hmm what the heck is that? starred at it for a while at my mat. Hmmmm once more. But yeah animals have that balance down, unless you are something like a lion with a crown, then they'd make us dead meat, literally, and have a treat.

  13. Quite beautifully written. Yes, if we could just hear what the animals have to say, this world would be a different place.

  16. I love this--where I live most of the year development is encroaching on their land. We get visits from deer and this year a bear!

    2. It was pretty wondrous. No relatives arguing, no irritations and the food was good too. A bit like X-mas, only peaceful.

  21. Humans have polluted most of the planet and build their homes further into the mountains, sending the deer into the cities. It is very sad. Then, as a city dweller, I am forced to either live in a world stripped of trees and flowers or spend thousands on a very tall fence. It is not as nature intended.
    Thanks for visiting.
