Medieval-Faire

drifting away into an age of dreams
castles stand tall, guarded by armored knights
training for battle silencing their screams
for the hand of their maiden they would  fight

poets  writing  romantic songs of  love
a  woven  tapestry of wondrous sound
strumming a lute, under  the stars  above
prophets speaking of legendary ground

heaven sighing as dragons rule the sky
protecting their  jewels  kings rule the land
wizards casting spells, how many will die
a  battle of wills who will take command

silver  shield of  honor, a coat of  arms
lover's ribbon to protect him from harm

  1. i would love to live in such a time...to see dragons in the sky...to feel such a part of legends...though i wonder if you realize it in the moment if you are living it...smiles...a sword, a shield and a maiden to fight for...smiles.

    1. Ah to see a dragon fly would be magical, a symbol of great strength and I think it might be fun to wander a bit in that realm.

  3. I always think that these medieval faires sounded like wonderful events. Not far from here we have a Renaissance Faire which I have attended a time or two. You have written a very magical poem, Truedessa!

  11. Very romantic indeed. Ever wonder why they wore so many clothes. After traveling I found out it is cold as the poles in most lovely settings. Still a beautiful scene you have written.

  12. Be grand to go back in time and live in such a place for a while. But it would wear thin after a little bit I think, all the unsantiary-ness of the time would drive me nuts lol

    1. I agree to travel from now to then would be hard as we live in a modern world, but it still would be interesting to visit that realm.

  15. There is always something idyllic about romancing the past, but for an average person during medieval times, fairness was a stranger, pestilence, terrible poverty, cruel monarchies, malicious barons, marauding gangs, the plague--& those nasty dragons scorching the earth & devouring maidens; I'm just saying.

    1. Ah Glenn, some very valid points and I imagine life was very hard for women back then..perhaps, I would join Robin Hood and roam the forests..haha
