Mystical Encounter

I gaze with admiration
upon your natural beauty
a creature of water
   earth
     & air

pausing in twilight hours
reflections of liminality
that space between
here & there
one foot on land
  & the other in water
   point of transition

and I wonder can I cross
that threshold with you...

I watch you in stillness
blending with green fronds
standing in the shallow end
times seems to stand still

in solitude unraveling
mysteries through meditation
you carry messages of wisdom
be patience in the journey

and I wonder how many marshes
must I wade through in life...

you sense my presence
yet, allow me this moment
as you might speak to my heart
guiding me to new understanding

in humility, I silently give thanks
for the gift of true friendship
within your wings I find comfort
air suddenly shifts, you take flight

and I wonder am I ready to fly
to soar unknown heights...

gliding over silver waters
I hear your mystical song
ripples of energy fill the air
and I realize time is "now"

  2. This poem is how I have been feeling this year...SOAR is my word of the year and your poem is magical as it expresses our desire to soar, take flight, try out those wings and fly to new destinations..."the time is now"

    1. Rosemary, it was a bit exciting..especially as I tried to take the pictures without disturbing the moment. I think my heart beat a bit faster.

  4. Lovely! "you sense my presence yet, allow me this moment" - those encounters are truly transcendent. A beautifully rendered piece that I totally "felt" as I had a very similar experience, many years ago.

  5. What a wonderful capture of the heron in that last picture. Life is full of slogs, but they build muscles so that when the time is right, you can fly.

  8. Such a relaxing entry Truedessa. I like the moment as if you are pleading for nature to understand your presence. And of course, it willingly oblige.

Yes, one must live in the 'now' to make it a worthwhile living. This last stanza is in tandem with the accompanying pic you had taken. Brilliant pic Truedessa! The artistic touch is a natural. This is a pro shot! It'll be fun to see each of your future poems graced with its own pic like this one. By the end of each year you'll have enough to compile into TWO books even. With your long poems written daily 365 each with a pic can make up 2 books of 300 to 400 pages.Best to you Ma'am!

  10. That moment we are all waiting for... the moment to take flight.. Love the word liminality.. of course it's hard to cross the border.

    1. Hi Bjorn,

Liminality - the word feels mystical and magical so I had to use it in the poem. If it were easy to cross the border the journey would not be so meaningful. We must find our way and cross when ready.
