Finding Rhythm on Rockin' Waters

pic credit - Truedessa's collection

Sometimes in life we skin our knees
on jagged  rocks in the journey
making our way to healing waters

Rocks of various colors and shapes
the very bones of mother earth
      each joint holding us together

Tranquility as blue water waves
hello, come rest your weary soles
     let your thoughts flow freely

Wash away yesterday's sorrow
off a rocky coastline a ship
     of dreams billowing sails

Chatty seagulls tell a story
  dolphins splash offering a song
     healing body, mind and spirit

Once again finding rhythm
with each breath of salted air
     standing on solid rock

You really brought it full circle, from rocks of pain to the rock of foundation. Well done!

    1. I've skinned my knees a time or two, but it is part of learning to walk in the journey. funny my mom used to say if you fall down pick yourself back up and dust your knees off...

  4. Indeed - water cleanses us, calms us....we sometimes skin our knees, go under but come up again - stronger. I truly liked this comparison to life - the picture is beautiful as well. Hayes Spencer is Kanzensakura

    1. Well, you know they say salt water heals..so I think sometimes we need to dive into those waters to feel better.

  5. I love the way you have interspersed our bodies---skinned knees and weary soles---with nature by talking about "the very bones of Mother Earth." It gives this such a personal feel, such a feeling of connection between us and her. Thanks for linking up today :-)

  6. I know you've been eagerly waiting for a comment from shy, humble me. Thus, my dear friend, wait no longer! :)

More wondrous thoughts at that place where the sea and the sky embrace.

My knees are now smooth. Back in the groove.

    Thanks for your poetic flair.

  7. We were never promised an easy path, and we all end up with some skinned knees. But luckily - nature is there also to show us the way in all its wonder, beauty and cycles. Nice breathe deep - and release. Ha.

    1. That is true no one promised the journey would be easy as we make our way through the maze of life. I am breathing inhaling and exhaling...slow and easy...

  8. That's one of my pet hates, actually, that long wade through painful jagged rocks into the deeper sea or smoother sea bed beyond... reminds me of the beach we have to go to year after year. I keep asking: can't we go to a nice beach, an easier one? After reading your poem, perhaps I'll appreciate it more. Thank you!

    1. I do know how you feel..the soft sand is much easier on the feet...but, the rocky coastline brings comfort perhaps, it is a barrier to hold back storms.

  12. With that ship on then horizon, billowing sails & all, I thought maybe Captain Patt, another force of nature, might show up. In Hawaii, on the big island, most of the beaches are covered with coral, which cut the hell out of my soles; trouble in paradise. By the by /rest your weary soles/ kind of threw me--did you mean "souls" or more abstractly, "soles" like mine?

    1. Hi Glenn,

haha - It is about time for another adventure..maybe next open link..now to answer your question I meant soles as our feet need a rest in the journey and I also meant souls as our spiritual self gets weary and needs respite..so I guess I should have said soles/souls..smiling..I was going to email you, but I couldn't find an address.

  15. Great reference to skinning your knees on the way to those healing waters. I used to live less than 1/2 mile from the Pacific just south of San Francisco and after a crazy day at work would walk to the cliff above the beach and just sit there and find peace.

  16. This is beautiful. The third stanza is my favorite. I like that the water waves . . . hello and that what it beckons you to do is to rest your weary "soles" as in your feet, but it could also mean to rest your soul. Peace, Linda

  17. Oh.. the waves of sea
    wash through refrains of heArt..
    where words become phrases of
    ancient delight of
    Oceans so deep
    living as our
    soUls..
    oh words..
    oh spiRit
    oh heArt..
    oh sand..
    oh breeze..
    we sing.. a field
    a wave.. a particle
    drop of life..
    we are rain..
    a song.. and
    ONE
    ocean
    of LOVE..
    wrapped softly
    as blanket of NOW..:)

    "Rock/s in the journey"

How true is that? The journey is in going back and forth between The Rock and the distraction of sin. Hopefully we'll eventually grow up and just sit on The Rock for good!
