Falling into Autumn

moon illuminates the heavens
as the drums vibrate to the
fluid frequency of love...

tonight,  I feel pulses of my heart
and in the recesses of my mind
I recall a dream filled with hope..

perfume of sage & sweet grass
circulate the smoky interior
in waning hours of September

falling into the arms of autumn

a black crow flaps overhead
& the spirited  white wolf howls
as the red  super moon arises

in the splendor of each beat
placing  intentions for those
in need of healing & peace

I close my eyes drifting as
a freshly fallen autumn leaf
resting near a great oak

falling into the arms of autumn

revival  in a  morning sun
under a  canopy of brilliant hues
baptizing sprays of light...

drink in a cup of a new day
ease into the silent beauty
sipping the flavors of life

in this day of equilibrium
united in light & darkness
that we might feel change

falling into the arms of autumn

posted for Poets United
author's note: I participated
in a Fall Equinox celebration
last night ushering in autumn
& the winds of change..
I wrote this to honor the
journey.

remembering a friend...gone
to the sky-world..

I am going outside later tonight to take in the view of the red moon and it will be an eclipse as well. Try to get out there if you can it will be a rare moon.

One is accorded the privilege of less heat of summer and less coldness of winter. A good balance is stated!

  8. There's our friend, the white wolf again.........the moon has been spectacular the last couple of nights but today is overcast and I fear we wont get to see the blood moon tonight. I envy you the gathering - so wonderful, I can hear the beat of the drums! I hope they lifted to your friend in the sky world. And that we, the people of the earth, will feel - and instigate - change. Beautiful writing, my friend,.

    1. Sherry,

Yes, that white wolf once again came last night and howled at the moon while the drums vibrated...when we left last night a guy came out and said "Do you see that moon" and he let out such a howl I had to smile...

  9. It is quite cool here today. And raining. Seems a bit fitting.
I like the freedom of that leaf in finally letting go to flutter down.
Autumn is my fav time of year - now if it would dry up a bit,
I could enjoy the wood smoke.

So drumming went good last night? Thanks for the intentions.

    1. Yes, sometimes the rain seems to fit the day and mood. It has been nice here all weekend and the moon spectacular. Tonight it will be the red moon and I plan to sit outside and drum for a bit between 10 - 12pm.

Yes, drumming went well and I put the intention out there for a friend. I left you an email...

  11. In the Japanese manner, celebrated Shubun-no-hi....and posted a Jisei on d'verse poetics in keeping with that. Autumn is so magical and my favorite time of year. This poem does such lovely and reverent justice to it. Like your loss, my tanka posted here today honors a friend who has crossed over the bridge from the land of the living. Autumn seems the perfect time to honor and remember those loved ones who have moved on. Spencer is Kanzensakura

    1. Yes, it seems we both had the crow come calling. Autumn comes on strong with vibrant color and then leaves everything grey and dark in such a short season.

  16. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. This piece is certainly a moving tribute. I love autumn, and while I don't always love the winds of change, I know that they're often better than just remaining stationary.

  17. The seasons constantly remind us of our own lives. We are part of natures plan and should see the beauty in that and be happy that we and all that we loved have been a part of all that.
