Nightlite

 Jacek Yerka, 2011

Snuggled  in a dream cloud
I softly slumber, floating
into the multi-(verse)
where nouns & verbs
connect in nonsensical
rhymes

caught in the undercurrent
of imaginative poetry
dreaming of knights
and soaring dragons...

wearing a shield of rosettes
protecting the inner chambers
of my heart...

moonlight  guides my way
 hidden staircase, mysterious room
  opening the door to consciousness

from the tree of life
taking  small bites
time ticks, ticks, ticks
knowing,  not the hour
of awakening

white owl hoots
  whooo Whooo

cat wearing a nightcap
candlelight flickers
mystical guardian watches
from the shoreline of  reality
or would that be fantasy

I know not which
as the dreamscape changes
floating downstream
to rest in your arms

  1. This is just lovely. A beautiful coming together of a lifetime of dreams and bedtime stories in that otherworldly nebulous state between awake and sleeping. And then (as you drift off) floating, in this wonderful dreamscape, to the arms of your beloved. Exquisitely romantic and rendered so tenderly.

  2. haha you captured the pic well, as nonsense rhymes we sure find swell. Dragons are fun too. No hat for this cat though haha

    1. haha - Well, I knew the cat would like nonsense rhymes as he can do it anytime and who doesn't like a dragon? They are so mystical.

What no hat for the cat? How can that be? Where there's a cat there's a hat(t)

  4. Caught in the undercurrent of imaginative poetry sounds like a wonderful place to be. I often sense that imaginative quality in your poetry, Truedessa. So this does not surprise me at all. And, on top of it, to float downstream to rest in someone's arms - no greater joy that that, I would imagine!

  7. Nice imagery. I could feel the dream a bit, pulled along by the fantastical. Where does dream end and reality begin? The arms at the end make it tangible, solid, reality.

    1. Where does dream end and reality begin? That is a very good question and one that I find hard to answer at times. I guess I keep on the quest until I discover the answers.

  11. very dreamy! loved this. In North carolina, we've had nothing but rain for over a week, but i've gotta say that the rain causes this dream-like reality for me.

  12. Oh I love this dream.. You surely pulled me into that dreamscape. I wonder if we ever think of differences between what's real or not while we are inside the dreamscape

These best describe the surrealism of Jacek's painting! It is the opening of the consciousness.

  21. Truedesa, I absolutely love this. It sounds like when one comes out of this dream, one is fully awake in every sense of the word. I love the mix of poetry, knighthood, defense of the heart, reaching consciousness and falling in the arms of the lover. What a journery!
