Vigilantly Waiting

along a rocky coastline , I  stand
echoes of mystery , drifting  waves
his ship sailed towards a distant land
 turbulent waters, fearless & brave

vigilantly , waiting for his return
 reclaiming treasures  promised to me
raging waters trail beyond the stern
shadowy figure , captain of the sea

guarding hidden  harbor of my heart
you once took refuge in my loving arms
my soul grieved the day you did  depart
spellbound by the tides magical charms

pierced by a harpoon whales saddest song
awakening  dreams , sleeping too long ...

  1. This is so poignant, the captain who stole her heart and sailed away, her on the shore....maybe one day he will turn the ship around and sail home.

Maybe, one day the winds of change will bring him home...

  2. It is very sad when the loved one departs. I do think that the call of the sea, for some, is hard to resist. I like the awakening of dreams in the last stanza!

  14. Oh the last verse is audible..loud as a whale singing in grief..to be left behind..stranded on shore can feel so lonely..perhaps it is better to be wandering than waiting..

  16. Most frustrating having to wait. Many take it lightly but it is a responsibility and commitment.

    1. Hi Hank,

I agree, while he is out discovering adventures she is left ashore wondering if he will ever return. I had a friend who's husband was a fisherman and he would be gone for days and she always worried about the storms.
