Beautiful Transformation

Truedessa's Collection

In a warm  sanctuary flutters life
life, a continuous circle of change
change, like the seasons we all do
do, you feel safe wrapped in a cocoon
cocoon, silken covering of protection
protection, so we might heal and grow
grow, so we might sprout strong wings
wings, to carry our dreams skyward
skyward, we look for new possibility
possibility, brings forth transformation
transformation, consciousness emerging
emerging, a unique creature in the journey
journey, evolving in the center of the heart
heart, filled with hope, joy and love
love, the key to a changing world!

  1. Beautiful! Like how the last word led the next sentence as the poem grew.

    1. Hi Alex, it is called loop poetry. I visited a butterfly sanctuary in early spring and enjoyed the beauty that fluttered about in that steamy room.

  8. The repetition of the last word to the first word of each line felt like glue - a resolve of spirit and a strong foundation upon which to transform

  16. I think the world needs this poem in light of recent events :)

  17. The form is very appropriate for your subject matter.

(I thought I invented this form in 1992 – and in a way I did, as I never encountered it anywhere else until recently. But I didn't give it a name, or publicise it – except by including a poem I wrote like that in one of my books. And I only ever wrote one poem that way. Loop poetry is a very good name for it. I wonder how many poets create their own forms, new to them, only to find that others have created the same ones? I suspect it happens quite a lot.)

    1. Hi Rosemary,

I went back to check the source and it was created by someone named Hellon in 2009. It looks like you invented it before Hellon :)

  18. I rarely write in any specific form, but this one I may try. The loops mimic how our minds work, in loops connecting our thoughts. But the content here is what most impresses me. I like the hope you weave through this, the faith that transformation is possible. I consider this a prayer for us as individuals but also for the world. I think this is my favorite of yours now.
