Waves of Blue!

In waves of ocean blue
my thoughts drift to you
where sky and water meet
catching a melancholy beat

It'll always be you
I'm telling you true
as I sing the blues
It'll always be you

caught in the rhythm of the rolling tide
do you know how many nights I cried
waiting on the shoreline for you to notice
the swelling heart of a blossoming lotus

we met strangers in a dream so long ago
sometimes it feels like a lifetime, I know
the twists and turns our path did take
bringing us sorrow and heartache

In waves of ocean blue
my thoughts drift to you
where sky and water meet
catching a melancholy beat

It'll always be you
I'm telling you true
as I sing the blues
It'll always be you

Our words entwined in lines
beauty found  in mystical signs
caught in the rapture of love
waking to the mourning dove

I still hear the melody in my head
so many things we left unsaid
I invited you into my world
waiting for wings to unfurl

In waves of ocean blue
my thoughts drift to you
where sky and water meet
catching a melancholy beat

It'll always be you
I'm telling you true
as I sing the blues
It'll always be you

  1. Yes, feels very bluesy. (My favourite kind of music.)

  2. six string blue riffs, with emotional refrains--love lost, hearts torn up, a very creative take on the "blues" prompt.

  3. Oh! I LOVE this! That refrain is wonderful, lapping along like waves. And a gorgeous photo to share, as well.

  4. Someone needs to write music for this wonderful blues piece.

I agree, it could be put to music. Most everyone can relate to the blues of having lost a lover...you did that so expertly here!

  7. So much that could have been accomplished. If only there was a tendency to engage together! It could have been fun!

  8. You had me at first stanza! This is truly beautiful and poignant. I love that refrain, too.

  12. I can hear you singing this with the refrain Truedessa. Hope the waiting for wings to unfurl will not be long.

  13. A bluesy piece of the great blue. A great melody feel came due.

  14. The repeat refrain is a wonderful way to circle the poem and stitch it together. It's a lovely poem, in any case....evocative of love and loss.

  18. I like the way that stanza repeats,
    "It'll always be you
    I'm telling you true
    as I sing the blues
    It'll always be you

  19. There always seems to be that somehow who is at the centre of our 'blues' - as well as sweeping me along in the waves of your lines you brought back some memories
