River-Keeper

There's a place where the river flows
hawks perched watch those below
travelers dip their wooden paddles
mystical songs, turtle rattles

Eagle spirit soars above

drifting around the river bend
dreaming of messages to send
guarding waters, the river-keeper
spiritual quests must run deeper

Tree spirits line the shore

apparitions move soundlessly
blessing waters to run endlessly
ride the current, follow the signs
beyond grey skies, harmony aligns

Reflections - water is life

  1. Hi Truedessa - such a lovely poem ... the river goes its way of life, we too need to be prepared to watch and guard our own way. We do most definitely share this land ... and harmony can align ... cheers Hilary

  8. I agree...so beautiful and serene as if I were drifting in a canoe along this river in touch with those spirits...that last line is sublime!

  9. Makes me think of back home. There was a series of rivers, streams, and ponds that I tended to hide out at and it was always so peaceful and serene.
