Love Me, Love Me Not

artist unknown

love me not like a straight and narrow path
but, love me on a jagged road, discovering curves

Love me not like a beautiful sunny day
but, love me on a rainy day drenched naked

love me not like a perfectly groomed flower
but, love me with sprawling roots of a weed

love me not like an  ocean of tranquility
but, love me riding dark turbulent waves

love me not, on  perfected wings in flight
but, love me on broken wings learning to fly

love me not with soft shimmering candlelight
but, love me with intense fire burning our souls

written for dVerse

I think I put my own spin on the prompt
Thanks for reading!

  1. That's right! Don't just love me when things are going well. That's too easy. Love me when things are really awful, then maybe I'll believe your love is true.

  2. Perfect! Love me when things go wrong, not just when everything is going right.

  6. Beautiful via negativa couplets, and I also get the echoes of 'he loves me, he loves me not', Truedessa! I especially love:
'love me not like an ocean of tranquility
but, love me riding dark turbulent waves'
    and
'love me not, on perfected wings in flight
but, love me on broken wings learning to fly'.

  9. Love the contrasts and how you negate the cliches of what love should be.

  10. These two lines stood out for me: "love me not, on perfected wings in flight
but, love me on broken wings learning to fly"

    1. And when one loves on broken wings, there is strength.

To love not by acts easily seen but more from sincere feelings in the inner self. The latter accords deeper meaning to what love is! Endorsing very much such a contention, True!

  15. Love your challenge to your lover to love you for all your facets, in all times and places. That’s what unconditional love means, I think.
