Be Part of the Solution - Not the Pollution

original source unknown

Soaked in sunshine on a cold March day
sitting on a snowy bank of reflection
icy remnants have now melted away

facing the warmth of radiant light
giving thanks for the sparkling water
above wild geese spread wings in flight

descending in V formation with ease
honk
    honk
        honk

hope in the songs of the budding trees
momentary silence, ripples of thoughts
on the cusp of spring's gentle breeze

Offering sage, releasing negativity
meditating, mind, body and spirit
offering sweet grass, gathering positivity

wisdom  echoes on birch limbs
   clap
      clap
         clap

harmony, bringing intentions forth
save our waterways, our world
mother nature needs our support

be part of the solution, not the pollution

author's note: I took part in World Water
Day on March 22, 2018 and I also
full-filled a vision on that day.  This is
to honor the journey in the quest for
water.

  1. Without water we are screwed indeed. Have to enjoy and protect the gift, although many don't. Can't go for the easy stream and let pollution gleam.

    Geese do honk!

    1. ha - clean is always preferable. The geese made so much noise when landing, but there was very little splash as they glided into the water.

  3. Keeping the air and the water clean should be first priority... but it seems hard for people to understand that

    1. I think big business is all about profit and they don't care about preserving our natural resources. Without water life will cease to be.

  5. Absolutely beautiful...we do so little of this in the US...honoring the earth and taking part in these special days. I took part in Earth Hour on Saturday, and it felt good to even just do that little bit. Our Mother Earth does need our help and support. Fabulous poem and thoughts.

    1. Hi Hilary! We need to act now, so many waterways are polluted and some areas are in major droughts. We need to care for our world.

Cheers and have a peaceful week!

  10. True, I love this poem and the sound of your offerings made to water........yesterday, offshore, we watched three whales spyhopping, diving, and rubbing on the rubbing sandbar, for a good hour.......also two adult and two juvenile eagles were doing flying lessons overhead. It was spectacular. What a gift.

    1. Sherry, that sounds like an amazing happening to view. Last week, I too took in a spectacular view as two eagles danced in the sky. I thought it was a mating ritual, simply beautiful to behold. To see one around here is rare unless you're near the river, but these two were flying over my street and I can't help feeling they were there for me. A reminder to look at life from a new perspective or a sign of a renewed spirit.

  11. Thank you for taking part in World Water Day! We all need to treasure this resource we have and take care of it. I had not heard of World Water Day, which is a sad thing. It needs to be given more publicity, and we all need to act. (I like how you are showing your activism in poetry, Truedessa! Smiles.)

  12. water is absolutely essential for living, and i do agree that we should be "part of the solution, not the pollution". For some countries there are abundant natural water resources (but they are still polluting it). for us over here, there are limited resources. there are catchment reservoirs, but still we need to buy raw water from other countries, and explore other ways like desalination, etc., which pushes up the cost of clean water.

    1. Thank you for your comment and yes, water is a real issue for so many areas in the world. Deregulation allows dumping waste into our waterways. I worry about future generations. We were making some progress, but now it seems we are going backwards. The time is "now" to save our sacred water.
