Autumn Bouquet

The Sunday Muse

On tip-toe nail, come walk with me
under nature's bountiful canopy
bouquet of colored autumn leaves
a song of gentleness, I weave

there is no need for sharp arrows
would you silence the sparrows
into my world, I offer you an invite
guiding you towards wondrous light

leading you to fresh reflective waters
drink in its wonder, see what if offers
the ability of regeneration, is a gift
in the clearing, dark clouds will lift

a song of gentleness, I weave
bouquet of colored autumn leaves
under nature's bountiful canopy
a song of gentleness, I weave

Listen
hear with open ears the poetry of my heart

 Move
slowly to the beat of love's abstract art

Hold
in cupped hands, the promises of today

Remember
memories of us, may they never fade away

Arizona Dreaming

Photo by Shantanu Pal on Pexels.com

Today, I am Arizona dreaming
to a place where hints of yellow-
orange saffron, cinnamon, nutmeg
dappled with vibrant paprika
airbrush the panoramic view

Traveling Airport Messa Road
following the map of past
experience to sacred land
feeling the swirling energy
as it brings healing...watching
the sun dip beyond the giant
cathedral as the bell rock
chimes in the background

Today, I am Arizona dreaming
meditating in the realms of my
heart, soul and mind,  balancing
with earth’s energy, a shaman
whispers through the canyon
of inner thought

Traveling the scenic trails of
yesterday, opening space to enjoy
the spices of love & life; utilizing
the power of intuition and senses
in the quest for harmony and peace
in a world of rocky terrain

writing poetry using words from a spice list
I used, Arizona Dreaming, saffron, cinnamon
paprika and  nutmeg,   Hosted by Merril

author's note:  I didn't know Arizona Dreaming
was a spice but, it took me back to a trip I took
to Sedona. It was a spiritual journey for me.

Lonely Polar Bear

Courtesy of earthweal

Did you ever feel like a lonely polar bear
darkness singing your bluest song
floating on a broken chunk of ice in fear

nowhere to go, waiting for hope to appear
searching for the place where you belong
did you ever feel like a lonely polar bear

wondering if anyone out there really cares
navigating the unknown, trying to be strong
floating on a broken chunk of ice in fear

experiencing some strange solar flare
these jigsaw pieces all jagged and wrong
did you ever feel like a lonely polar bear

once precious dreams were crystal clear
cracked heart, lost art of penguin’s song
floating on a broken chunk of ice in fear

sleeping under the stars, shedding tears
arctic nights, can be bitter-cold and long
did you ever feel like a lonely polar bear
floating on a broken chunk of ice in fear

author's note: I missed Sherry's prompt this week.
I saw this photo of the polar bear and it has been haunting me.

The Dovecote

Dovecote by Lee Madgwick

Darkness crept into the house of dreams
longing for adventure and true love
past the meadow, whispered the stream
following the moon-glow from above

longing for adventure and true love
she left the comfort of the dovecote
following the moon-glow from above
a coo not-yet sung, stuck in her throat

she left the comfort of the dovecote
searching for a place where love breeds
a coo not-yet sung, stuck in her throat
be careful of midnight wishes you seed

searching for a place where love breeds
past the meadow, whispered the stream
be careful of midnight wishes you seed
darkness crept  into the house of dreams

The Heart of a Rose

Xray-Flower - The Sunday Muse

A heart is a gift of beauty
to understand it's depth
you must look beneath
layers of flesh and bones
feel the beat of life

A rose is a gift of beauty
to understand it's depth
you must look beneath
soft petals, stem and thorns
see the enchantment of life

 when nurtured they both
grow and blossom in exquisiteness
until the season of love ends
mourning loss - heart broken
she leaves a black rose
