Magical Notes

Pinterest

There is magic in a full moon
dreams arise from silken cocoons
visions of what will surely come
my heart beats to a mellow drum

cloaked in night a magical spell
our world in a distant parallel
summer fades into autumn's hum
my heart beats to a mellow drum

in silence I pen you love notes
free verse in an origami boat
a melody waiting to be strum
my heart beats to a mellow drum

  1. That had such a great flow and rhythm to it!

  2. You've really made me feel autumn, even though we still have a couple more weeks before the official start. I wonder what you'd think of the full moon hanging in our sky the last couple of days. Wildfire smoke has turned it pretty outrageous!

  4. True this, Dessa--ethereal, words caught in thermals under dove's wings--seasons halted for inspection, on parade, under your poetic scrutiny.

    1. Thank you Bjorn, I used to make these little boats. Perhaps, I can make one out of sheet music. Then my songs will float across the water.

  7. I like the repeated lines. The full moon passes the earth's magnetotail. This affects the moon and it may also affect us differently this time of the month. Last night I saw the near full moon from a Chicago condo rising over the other buildings. If nothing else it had a satisfactory roundness in the cool evening air.

    1. The full moon always plays with my mood. The moon was pretty the other night as it illuminated the sky.

  8. Those mellow drum beats open old and ancient pathways to our dreams and to our highest self. This poem reflects all that and more. Exquisite.

    1. That is does Paul, the beat opens the doorways to the ancients so we can hear their messages.

  12. Your use of repetition in the last line is lovely, Truedessa. It's sound lulls the poem and the reader.
