There is magic in a full moon
dreams arise from silken cocoons
visions of what will surely come
my heart beats to a mellow drum
cloaked in night a magical spell
our world in a distant parallel
summer fades into autumn's hum
my heart beats to a mellow drum
in silence I pen you love notes
free verse in an origami boat
a melody waiting to be strum
my heart beats to a mellow drum

writing poetry using the
word magic..
That had such a great flow and rhythm to it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Alex!
DeleteYou've really made me feel autumn, even though we still have a couple more weeks before the official start. I wonder what you'd think of the full moon hanging in our sky the last couple of days. Wildfire smoke has turned it pretty outrageous!
ReplyDeleteOutrageous! Can you describe it to me?
Delete"My heart beats to a mellow drum"....I think I am in need of a mellow drum.......this is beautiful, True.
ReplyDeleteI think you need a drum that will speak to you!
DeleteTrue this, Dessa--ethereal, words caught in thermals under dove's wings--seasons halted for inspection, on parade, under your poetic scrutiny.
ReplyDeleteGlenn - I am smiling wide at your comment. Thanks for that...
Deletein silence I pen you love notes
ReplyDeletefree verse in an origami boat............wish I'd thought of this. Another fine read here.
That you Julian, my words float downstream in falls amber gleam.
DeleteOh I love the origami boat... what a wonderful way to express it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bjorn, I used to make these little boats. Perhaps, I can make one out of sheet music. Then my songs will float across the water.
DeleteI like the repeated lines. The full moon passes the earth's magnetotail. This affects the moon and it may also affect us differently this time of the month. Last night I saw the near full moon from a Chicago condo rising over the other buildings. If nothing else it had a satisfactory roundness in the cool evening air.
ReplyDeleteThe full moon always plays with my mood. The moon was pretty the other night as it illuminated the sky.
DeleteThose mellow drum beats open old and ancient pathways to our dreams and to our highest self. This poem reflects all that and more. Exquisite.
ReplyDeleteThat is does Paul, the beat opens the doorways to the ancients so we can hear their messages.
DeleteIndeed a magical poem:)
ReplyDeleteWe can all use a bit of magic!
DeleteI love each stanza you created. I love the love letters from a little boat!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annell!
DeleteA melody at play as the notes sail away. Let origami boat sail indeed.
ReplyDeleteI imagine the melody sad and sweet, but hopeful...
DeleteI guess this is a poetry form, but which one?
ReplyDeleteI used the Kyrielle as my base.
DeleteYour use of repetition in the last line is lovely, Truedessa. It's sound lulls the poem and the reader.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah for visiting!
DeleteExpressed like the dream it so fully desevres
ReplyDeleteA dream floating merrily along...
DeleteThere certainly is magic in a full moon.
ReplyDeleteI marvel how you're always able to find the perfect picture to go with your words.
I do find the moon to be magical. Thank you, I do take some time to find the picture that most speaks to the message.
DeleteYour poem has a very ethereal feel to it.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou feel it too... the magic of the moon... I soaked in it last night.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do feel it too :)
DeleteGreetings from the UK. I enjoyed reading your poem. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
Greetings!
DeleteThank you!
Love this line: "Our world in a distant parallel." Nice!
ReplyDeleteYes, that is my favorite line as well. Thanks!
DeleteHow truly exceptional to read, I enjoyed it, and nice of you to share. I hope you are well, greetings!
