River Hawk - Song of an Osprey

Courtesy of Pixabay

Facing the hot summer sun
a silhouette appears in the sky
swooping over the river edge
swerving in front of my path
I stand frozen, a frighten doe
adjusting my vision in bright light
pondering my next move

The river hawk, sharing energy
with a weary traveler, a reminder
that sometimes we need to claw
our way back spiritually, communing
with nature brings healing and balance
faith is at a tipping point and the
challenge of change is ahead

what are the desires of your heart

Awareness often brings clarity
after the blinding light of love
lingering clouds disperse liberating
the captive heart, freeing negativity
positive energy can once again flow
through the veins of consciousness
and the songs of hope sing loud

The river hawk, a catcher of fish
knows to take only what he needs
filling his belly when hunger strikes
the water recedes and diving into
the depth of understanding can be
difficult, how to navigate the
waterway to inner harmony, a
shaman will always dream a way

what song will nourish you soul

the other day.  I am honoring his visitation.

Swinging on a Dream

Girl on a Swing - The Sunday Muse

Who says you can’t dance in the clouds
where the heart beats thunderous loud

In a dream there was once you and I
making love with words until we cried

Seeking momentum in another realm
the guardian of the universe at the helm

Swinging high, then low in whispers of love
sharing our magic with the heavens above

Perhaps, the intensity made us fools of pain
our feet always dangling on the edge of sane

Tip-toeing in the clouds, where our souls met
those other-worldly moments, I will never forget

The emotional rush of excitement in my head
remembering the enchantment of what was said

If you believe there is joy in touching the sky
do it now, before the dream disappears and dies

Where the heart beats thunderous loud
who says you can't dance in the clouds

Hangin' Up The Blues

Photography by Alicia Savage

I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues

You played me for a fool
how could you be so cruel
love it don't have no rules

our worlds a different rhyme
penning words of poetic lines
waiting for the sun to shine

I’m hung up on the blues
my heart can't get over you
love will break you in two

I guess you never were mine
heartbreak hung borderline
waiting for our lives to align

I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues

emotions run raw and naked
look at all this time, I've wasted
clinging to songs, I thought sacred

I’m hung up on the blues
my heart can't get over you
love will break you in two

maybe, it’s time for a different hue
see what else comes into view
I love you, that much is true

I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues

waiting for a breeze, to dry these tears
stars can shine for a million years
pinned against the shadows, light appears

I’m hung up on the blues
my heart can't get over you
love will break you in two

I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues

Owl Be Watching

Into my dreams, the esoteric mystic flew
past the phantasmal veil there are clues
harbinger of warning in the web of night
guard your back on an uncharted flight
use caution in journeys to places of the heart

came the screeching HOO HOO Hoot, of an owl

There is vulnerability that can tear it apart
seeking the tree of deeper-rooted wisdom
use intuition see through the crystal prism
beyond the harbor, into the morning light
there's a lyrical song of love, yet to write

came the screeching HOO HOO Hoot, of an owl

rising high in the evening glow
shining light on the earth below
filling space between the stars
hiding my craters, my scars
sometimes, I'm in a blue mood
romantic hearts, I have wooed
rising high in the evening glow
shining light on the earth below

Thunder Hole

Thunder Hole - Acadia National Park

I hike to Thunder Hole
where the water rolls and swirls
at high tide, the waves crash
with a thunderous boom

 patiently waiting in anticipation
for the moment when wind
and water conspire, shaking
the foundation under my feet

the ocean sprays cool the heat
on a hot summer day and I wonder
at this natural phenomenon that
pounds in the chasm below

I always thought lightning comes
before the thunder, but the sky
remains blue and the sun is
blazing yellow/orange...I wipe
the sweat from my brow, the salt
water burns my eyes

Perhaps, the lightning is the spark
of excitement that tingles as it travels
through my body at this precise rumble
in time

it’s said on a stormy day the thunderous
roar can be heard across the harbor
I wonder does Poseidon have bad days
today, the thunder is distant but audible
it occurs to me where are the whale songs
I put on my sunglasses and climb the cliff
edge for a fresh perspective,..one never
knows when lightning might strike
