You played me for a fool
how could you be so cruel
love it don't have no rules

our worlds a different rhyme
penning words of poetic lines
waiting for the sun to shine

I’m hung up on the blues
my heart can't get over you
love will break you in two

I guess you never were mine
heartbreak hung borderline
waiting for our lives to align

I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues

emotions run raw and naked
look at all this time, I've wasted
clinging to songs, I thought sacred

I’m hung up on the blues

maybe, it’s time for a different hue
see what else comes into view
I love you, that much is true

 waiting for a breeze, to dry these tears
stars can shine for a million years
pinned against the shadows, light appears

life it can be hard

changing every day

this heart I have to guard

and this rain just won't go away

 

I sing the true blue blues

I spent all these nights dreamin' of you

it's been so long, since I've seen the sun

the places we'd go, the things we'd do

cryin' in the night, love you can't outrun

Life it can be hard

tell me what can I say

love is something I can't discard

sometimes there's a price to pay

were these dreams, those of a fool

wishin' for more than we could give

even the sweetest dream can be cruel

Darker Shade of Blue

I am a darker shade of blue

fall is losing it's vibrant hue

where has precious time gone

slipping away with each dawn

is there hope for you and I

some days I just want to cry

would you feel my growing pain

in remnants of autumn's rain

reflective puddles form at our feet

how can love be so bittersweet

our souls searching for that dream

would our hearts pause in midstream

drenched in fragile earthly skin

can healing waters be felt within

sing to me, of  November's rhyme

kiss my lips, while there's still time

tell me true, what do your eyes see
why does this cloud hover over me
sunny days are somewhere in the sky
let's spread our wings and simply fly
