It Was a Dream or Not

It was a dream yet not
when I let you live in my head
rent free…

   an earworm that won’t go
            away

embrace it or reject it
   is what the dream-maker
   said…

haunting my nights an owl flies past
I don't even bat an eye

my mind unraveling hanging on to a thread
a spider weaves a web outside my window
I’ll write a new verse break this curse

our song was harmonious at times
raw energy vibrating in the heart
bleeding the blues

as Poe said "All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream"

souls suspended in some other reality
a rock, a star enters the atmosphere

Tonight, I will think of you....

Standing Stones - Thor's Gate

Thor's Gate

Aye, the calling is a gentle whisper
come dance on the mystic trails
let your imagination weave a tale
rugged land of hidden unknowns
through the tall standing stones

there is a sense of enchantment
wandering off on a melodic tangent
scattered are twigs and pine cones
through the tall standing stones

the piper plays of love and thunder
in the belly of the woods lies wonder
the throwing of trinkets and bones
through the tall standing stones

my heart swelling with each step
pebbles and rocks all have depths
on this quest, I must walk alone
through the tall standing stones
aye, the calling is a gentle whisper

hosted by Dora - The prompt

She wants us to write a poem featuring, if not centering, on rock or stone.

I visited Columcille Megalith Park a few years back and the prompt reminded me of this place. There are over 90 stone settings.  The photo above was taken by myself.  It's called Thor's Gate.

How do we change the world, you ask
Perhaps, it begins with a simple task
Who will teach the art of kindness
Can we leave cruelty behind us
How to build empathy in our lives
Perhaps, it is in the smile one gives
Can kindness be the antidote to apathy
Can the cure be found in a baptistery
Say a prayer for a friend who needs hope
It may help them up the slippery slope
Kindness starts within our hearts
each of us plays a small sacred part

Blood Moon Sings a Forgotten Tune

courtesy of Pixabay Placidplace

Tonight, I wait for the blood moon
shining its crimson color over earth
listening to the eerie call of a loon

In the shadows lurks, a time of change
guard your sacred dreams in the night
they may be swallowed or rearranged

The moon controlling the rhythmic sea
and I howling with the rising and falling tide
tugging at my heart a song longs to be free

In the darkness there is a deep silence
a pause to contemplate my next words
searching the heavens for divine guidance

The dusty veil between the worlds thins
opening a dream, singing a forgotten tune
in this mysterious place, a new verse begins

The Harbor

Egon Schiele, Harbor of Trieste (1907)

Shimmering water
reflections of the day
jagged lines of moored ships
rigged masts stand tall and gray

waiting for tomorrows trips
the harbor port on full display
over the horizon, the sun slowly dips
this the landscape, I wish to portray

written for dVerse Poets Pub - Hosted by Melissa
for today's prompt, I'd like us to explore some of the landscapes Schiele brought to life in his paintings. Choose one of the artworks in this post and compose a poem in any form of your choosing.
