Concert of Birds

Courtesy of Pixabay

On a spring day enjoying a concert of birds
listening to the soft coo-coo of Mourning Doves
the tap tap tap tap of a Downy Woodpecker
a duet between Song and House Sparrows
flashing in sunlight an American goldfinch
nesting in the cattails Red-winged blackbirds
listening to the raspy notes of European Starlings
singing its repertoire of songs a Northern Mockingbird
rejoicing in the melody of a warm spring day

writing poetry from a list

author's note:  I use the Cornell University Merlin App to identify bird sounds.  The birds included in my list poem are the birds I recorded yesterday.

Homesick for my Soul

courtesy of Pixabay Steven Batty

Deep in my soul is a longing
seeking a place of inner peace
truest sense of spiritual belonging
gathering of self; scattered pieces

Singing dirges of loss ...

Calling my weary soul back home
parts misplaced in the journey of life
how many miles have I roamed
answers found in my nightly flights

Singing  a hymn of hope...

Heart ache of love needs tending
self-reflection in a blue teardrop
messages my dreams are sending
enlightenment on a mountain top

deep in my soul is a longing
gathering of self; scattered pieces

Blooms, Dreams and Flowery Moonbeams

Blooms and dreams
and flowery moonbeams

    visual poetry unfolding
    essence of spring exploding

in the gracious living garden; rebirth
        touching hearts; heaven and earth

            colored textures and words
            hear the songs of blue-birds

on mystic wings of a starlit night
                fertile imagination takes flight

Write a quadrille (a poem of EXACTLY 44 words, not including the title) AND include the word “bloom” or a form of the word within the body of the poem.
