Despite and Still

Free Winter Snow photo and picture

Despite

Despite the dark December wind
and the shadowy tall barren trees
one can hear the groans of fragility
limbs ready to break in two…

Despite my grieving heart
and the emptiness that remains
one can hear the caws of the raven
wings fluttering in the darkness

Despite the cold winter chill
and the frozen days of yesterday
one can hear the cries of brokenness
hearts cracking from the weight of loss

Still

Still the light of December placid skies
and its promises of evergreen trees
one can hear the whispers of sturdiness
branches swaying in unison…

Still my soothing heart
and the memories that remain
one can hear the songs of cardinals
wings of red fluttering in the light

Still the warm winter sunshine
and the thawing days of tomorrow
one can hear the distant sighs of renewal
hearts healing from the lightness of hope

Take This Dream

Take this dream
under the stars and moon
have the courage to travel the unknown
create a haven in night's stillness
your soul knows the way

Take this dream
be gentle with yourself in darkness
believe you will reach your destination
let your thoughts reach the unreachable
listen to ancient wisdom in your soul

Take this dream
focus on the desires of your heart
follow the winds of transformation
take time to find harmony within
listen to the songs of your soul

Take this dream
build upon it in the morning light
turn it into something beautiful
share it with those who need a vision
embrace the poetry within your soul

Take this dream, I am too tired....

Barefoot in the Rain

Free Barefoot Feet photo and picture

Have you ever walked in the rain
feeling pain
Would you wish those gray clouds away
for today
Could you sing songs of summer fun
on the run

dreaming of you and the sun
drying salty tears from my eyes
loving you is hard to deny
feeling pain, for today, on the run

The Final Hymn

Hymn Book

No one knows why the flock flew away
the only chorus heard now is the cooing
of homing pigeons, carrying notes
between the sky and earthly world

once there were songs that lifted the rafters
the old piano could be heard from far away
people came to dance and clap their hands
rejoicing in the harmony of the day

perhaps, too many dreams died and faith
drifted away with each broken heart
the road to love too difficult to travel
the music too painful to hear

light still shines through the stained glass
warming the emptiness felt deep inside
there are hymns of life waiting to be sung
if only the shadows of darkness would cease

perhaps, a broken hallelujah, is better than none

Tied To You!

The Sunday Muse

Drifting back in time
under a pale yellow sky
once we were tied
to a dream

 you held one end
of the rope and I
the other, trying
to weave our way
together

 a wave of love
that stretched wide
sometimes the billowing
sails were more than
I could handle

barefoot on old
wooden planks
weathering the storms
chasing the blues
riding the tides
navigating my way
to You...

 a star so bright
I had to close my eyes
knowing in my heart
the journey would get rough

sailing endlessly
in a drowning dream
casting out my net into
a mysterious sea
believing

Heavy Is the Crown

 Dance, Yoga, Meditation, Woman, Fitness

Heavy is the crown of thought

a constant reminder of what is lost

living by the sword of one's words

under the misty veil dreams are stirred

defending a kingdom, that's lost its way

how many demons must we slay

before our hearts love
