Hello Spring!

Free Great Blue Heron Nature photo and picture

Hello spring!  You have graced us with a spectacular day.  The warm golden plumeria sun shines upon my face and soon nature will be in full bloom. I watch the slow moving nebulous white clouds drifting above  Listening to music on my afternoon walk I find myself traveling in time.  It seems only natural to dream and my mind like a grasshopper jumps from place to place.

The great blue heron wades in the shallow fresh water with a distinctive prehistoric look.  Losing none of his grace in repose, waiting patiently to spear a fish.  There is a sense of solemness as if  life might fly away on mourner’s wings at any moment.

“Market My Letters” plays in my ears and I recall a time when I believed in fairy-tales.  The beauty of music is its ability to transform.  I close my eyes and inhale the beauty of now.

Thank you for reading! "Market My Letters" is a song by Burton Cummings - it is poetic with a whimsical feel of another time period.

Tree of Life - Forever Engraved

Tree of life "forever"engraved
in our hearts

The interconnections
of all things, life, death
and renewal

It's trunk sturdy in times
of darkness

It's branches reaching
outward and upward
seeking light

Balance and harmony
found when heaven and
earth kiss

May spring bloom love

Willow Grows

Willow

Marveling at your contours and gracefulness
your branches arch creating a canopy
that dares to kiss the lips of earth
slowly flowering in the light of spring
your roots thirst for growth...

I am optimistic that poets will always
find your beauty alluring

There is Always Light

Free Tea Light Lamp photo and picture

In a dream a long time ago
I wandered on the edge of darkness
wondering if light would ever show
the black cobra sky, hissed, starless

A shaman greeted me on the trail
do you walk with the shadow people
discovering mysteries beyond the veil
can you see with the eyes of an eagle

I invite you to think about “now” a bit more
what will bring you joy in the morning light
spring is filled with small wonders to explore
have you ever seen a bird take it's first flight

My heart heavy from the weekend snow
I wandered on the edge of darkness
wondering where is the sun’s warm glow
seeking a refuge, a place of calmness

The trees of the forest bend and moan
storytellers, will share how they came to be
mysteries runs deep, filled with unknowns
drift into a lucid dream, I think you will agree

Past the darkness, there is always light….
let us fine a way for it to shine, forever bright

Between Tu-Lip

Tulip Festival

Between tu-lips, lies heartfelt words
listen closely for springtime rhymes
singing freely, with the songbirds
poets wander, leaving small signs

poetry found in a flower bed
between tu-lips lies heartfelt words
blooming colors, purple, yellow and red
in silence, something inside stirred

verses whispered, tell me you heard
in the garden, the sparrow's song
between (tu-lips) lies heartfelt words
embracing love, can that be wrong

why do beautiful dreams fade away
without light visions become blurred
love wilts, into the ghost of another day
between two-lips, lies heartfelt words

I think Broken Dreams and Spring

Today, I feel a gentle touch of renewed hope circulating in the air  The noon-day sun is shining and the birds are flying in a cloudless sky.  I hear a cardinal's song in the distance.  It has been too long since I have heard bird songs.  My heart flutters feather light.

Two bald eagles swoop in from the north circling overhead.  They seem to float on wings of grace.  I wonder, are they mates?  Gazing heavenward, they shift direction and soar over the tall pines.

I think spring, this year's a different thing. I'll not think of you, broken dreams.  Instead, I will plant seeds of possibilities in the days and weeks ahead.  Rejoicing when the tulips and daffodils are in bloom.  Spring will sing a lifting song, thawing winter’s melancholic mood.
