There is Always Light

Free Tea Light Lamp photo and picture

In a dream a long time ago
I wandered on the edge of darkness
wondering if light would ever show
the black cobra sky, hissed, starless

A shaman greeted me on the trail
do you walk with the shadow people
discovering mysteries beyond the veil
can you see with the eyes of an eagle

I invite you to think about “now” a bit more
what will bring you joy in the morning light
spring is filled with small wonders to explore
have you ever seen a bird take it's first flight

My heart heavy from the weekend snow
I wandered on the edge of darkness
wondering where is the sun’s warm glow
seeking a refuge, a place of calmness

The trees of the forest bend and moan
storytellers, will share how they came to be
mysteries runs deep, filled with unknowns
drift into a lucid dream, I think you will agree

Past the darkness, there is always light….
let us fine a way for it to shine, forever bright

    1. Sherry. I do believe we must always embrace light. That being said I think we appreciate light after a period of darkness.

  7. "I invite you to think about “now” a bit more
what will bring you joy in the morning light
spring is filled with small wonders to explore
have you ever seen a bird take it's first flight" I enjoyed this hint in the middle of the dream, a hint that leads to the knowledge of light even when it is most dark.

  11. Thank you for gifting us this poem .. I lost three loved ones in the last seven months, questioning when the darkness might fade. This line "I wandered on the edge of darkness wondering if light would ever show" comforted me, reassured me I would come thru, I would. I am. Slowly.
