No Time For Pretty

Free Spikes Thorny Rose photo and picture

This is no time to make things pretty
Yet, we need pretty more than ever

In the rubble of natural disasters
there is a need to find mementos

A family photo, a hidden treasure
something the heart can cling to

After the ominous dark clouds pass
there is beauty in a clear blue sky

This is no time to make things pretty
Yet, we need pretty more than ever

How long can we live in this mess
the beds unmade, the roofless homes

How long can we travel on this earth
with destroyed roads and waterways

Who can repair the damage done
roses are pretty, but the thorns
are a cautious warning....

Darker Shade of Blue

courtesy of Pixabay

I am a darker shade of blue
fall is losing it's vibrant hue
where has precious time gone
slipping away with each dawn

is there hope for you and I
some days I just want to cry
would you feel my growing pain
in remnants of autumn's rain

reflective puddles form at our feet
how can love be so bittersweet
our souls searching for that dream
would our hearts pause in midstream

drenched in fragile earthly skin
can healing waters be felt within
sing to me, of  November's rhyme
kiss my lips, while there's still time

tell me true, what do your eyes see
why does this cloud hover over me
sunny days are somewhere in the sky
let's spread our wings and simply fly

One More Dream

free images

please, just one more dream
will you bestow a precious rose
let us sing, under moonbeams

silent memories, dying scream
tears of sorrow, has time froze
please, just one more dream

songs drift along the stream
from your lips, a melody flows
let us sing, under moonbeams

healing pools, eyes softly gleam
thorns no longer pierce, love grows
please, just one more dream

heartfelt prose, key words redeem
rays of light, celestial spirits glow
let us sing, under moonbeams

in a slumber, all is not as it seems
i wish not for love to decompose
please, just one more dream
let us sing, under moonbeams

Scent of Rosewater

Artist: Georgia O'Keeffe

white waves
delicate rose in a foaming sea
    ocean petals soft and moist
he came, to dance with me

dream  beads laced across the sky
    under heavens canopy, hearts speak
       moon tides rise and fall
         dancing cheek to cheek

white waves
rosewater scent clings to wet flesh
love blossoms in the midnight air
in a woven net our souls mesh

loves purity in a strand of pearls
illuminating the heavens far and wide
poetic words spray across pink lips
swells of emotions grow deep inside

white waves
rising rhythmic cadence of the sea
ocean petals, fall with each breath
I came, to dance with him..

Winter's Hidden Rose

I search my dreams, tracks in new fallen snow
pine and balsam scent wafting in cool air
within soft drifts hidden a flower grows
winter's delicate rose handle with care

snowy white owl, gently whispers your name
messenger of  hope fresh  journey ahead
romance melting cold hearts eternal flame
velvet petals bloom crisp in winter's bed

within your soft moist lips crystals of love
but, thy thorns of beauty hold me confined
stirring my soul, songs of the mourning dove
desire firmly embedded  roots  entwined

will , I pick thee winter rose for a kiss
within my lover arms I find true bliss
