I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues
You played me for a fool
how could you be so cruel
love it don't have no rules
our worlds a different rhyme
penning words of poetic lines
waiting for the sun to shine
I’m hung up on the blues
my heart can't get over you
love will break you in two
I guess you never were mine
heartbreak hung borderline
waiting for our lives to align
I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues
emotions run raw and naked
look at all this time, I've wasted
clinging to songs, I thought sacred
I’m hung up on the blues
my heart can't get over you
love will break you in two
maybe, it’s time for a different hue
see what else comes into view
I love you, that much is true
I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues
waiting for a breeze, to dry these tears
stars can shine for a million years
pinned against the shadows, light appears
I’m hung up on the blues
my heart can't get over you
love will break you in two
I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues
I'm hangin' up the blues

ReplyDeleteLove all the rhyme and repetition like a song with a heartfelt message. This is beautiful Truedessa!
ReplyDeleteNow this poem could be set to music. I'm sure of it.
ReplyDeleteNice one.
Happy Sunday
Much💖love
Wow! Love the motion and emotion in this.
ReplyDeleteThat would make for some fine song lyrics!
ReplyDeleteAt this moment, I am dreaming up a melody for your wonderful lyrics ... stay tuned! I've done it before.
ReplyDeleteI call this "wasted love".
ReplyDeleteI like the refrain; I hope Helen can gin up a melody for it.
I've a friend who says he can make a melody for any poem I'd write.
..
I'd love to hear this sung, it reads so well as lyrics. Great narrative of the image you chose :-)
ReplyDeleteHanging up the blues means opening to what the universe sends you next. Anyone who turned away from you must not have known what they lost.
ReplyDeleteLove it, True Blue. Hope you're doing fine.

ReplyDeleteWhere's the music? I think this is a song. Love it! I hung out with the blues on mine too.
ReplyDeleteHow's life, True?
ReplyDeleteGreat title, and perfect lyrics for a country-western tune!
ReplyDeleteTruedessa this could be a Bonnie Raitt tune. Love it. I am beginning to think we reach an impasse in a lifetime with a forever love, which seems to be a contradiction, but it does give hope you'll continue the "work/love" in the next lifetime with them.
