The Dovecote

Dovecote by Lee Madgwick

Darkness crept into the house of dreams
longing for adventure and true love
past the meadow, whispered the stream
following the moon-glow from above

longing for adventure and true love
she left the comfort of the dovecote
following the moon-glow from above
a coo not-yet sung, stuck in her throat

she left the comfort of the dovecote
searching for a place where love breeds
a coo not-yet sung, stuck in her throat
be careful of midnight wishes you seed

searching for a place where love breeds
past the meadow, whispered the stream
be careful of midnight wishes you seed
darkness crept  into the house of dreams

Set It Free

Art by Catrin Welz-Stein

You held my songs captive

keeping my thoughts hidden

but, love should be interactive

dancing with life's inner rhythm

writing notes, pondering keys

which will unlock inner dreams

the stars and moonlight tease

over the horizon, light redeems

my heart locked in a cage

set it free, set it free,  says the sage

take a chance, on change

songbirds need freedom to sing

which key will unlock the heart

let's experience the beauty of spring

we need to find a new place to start

opening the door to true happiness

will you find the right note and key

to fill the void of inner emptiness

the songbirds need to be set free

my heart locked in a cage

set it free,  set it free,  says the sage

take a chance, on change

This Child Cannot Be Caged

The Sunday Muse

This child in her cannot be caged

she still enjoys walks in the rain

communing with trees gently aged

listening to nature's sweet serenade

singing to the pitter-patter refrain

this child in her cannot be caged

day dreaming in a forest glade

here there is no need to explain

communing with trees gently aged

whimsical moments cannot be staged

and birds will nest in spring again

this child in her cannot be caged

on the whispers of love she played

deep in her heart a fairy tale reigns

communing with trees gently aged

in the heavens a thunderstorm raged

perhaps, the rain eases the pain

this child in her cannot be caged

communing with trees gently aged

Laying Down Tracks

wikimedia - Train Station Vincent van Gogh

We were young and carefree
lying our tracks side by side
on a  sandy beach
would we be ready when the
trained rolled in...

gathering under starlight
at the river's edge
getting our fill
from a red solo cup
sipping wine...seeking
redemption on the
shores of East Jesus..

we were young & reckless
listening to rock n' roll
sermons playin' on the radio
what preacher would save
our lost souls...

tryin' to make our way
from here to there...
drowning out the screams
"you better grow up"

we gathered the silent few
wanting to know the key to life
under the stars and moon
we sang our tunes...

here we shared our hopes
& dreams....
seeing the world, a different view
on a riverbed,  we found  peace
in the arms of night, someone
cared...

as the heavens shone above
we experienced love...salvation
to the clickity clack of the railroad
tracks...

found on the shores of East Jesus

Freedom the Song I Bring

Freedom, freedom, freedom

Catching a ride on a runaway train
it's time  for you and I to change
it's time for you and I to re-arrange
together we can break the chain

freedom ..is the song I bring
lift our voices let us sing
freedom..is the song I bring

liberty isn't found in an aluminum can
liberty isn't sold at the corner store
liberty is something worth fighting for
liberty is something men & women die for

it's time for us to heal
it's  time for us to feel
need to break these chains

freedom..is the song I bring
lift our voices let us sing
freedom..is the song I bring

liberty isn't found in an aluminum can
liberty isn't sold at the corner store
liberty is something worth fighting for
liberty is something men & women die for

it's time for us to love
it's time for us to shine above
need to break these chains

freedom..is the song I bring
lift our  voices let us sing
freedom..is the song I bring

it's time  for you and I to change
it's time for you and I to re-arrange
together we can break the chains

freedom, freedom, freedom
  freedom, freedom, freedom
    we're dreaming of freedom
