It’s Wednesday, and this is what I know
it’s cold and the ground covered with snow
lake mostly frozen, remains open in spots
there are two mallards with a goose mascot
my heart feels heavy hoping they survive
praying warm weather will soon arrive
It’s Wednesday, and this is what I know
perched high on a branch caws a black crow
darkness set in like a poem written by Poe
and I wonder where the wild wind blows
tired of all this grayness and nasty weather
I day-dream of spring flowers and heather
It’s Wednesday, and this is what I know
I hear the songs of the weeping willow
broken dreams, can whiskey warm the heart
who will pick us up, when life falls apart
surely the universe has a grand plan
the phoenix has an amazing wingspan
It’s Wednesday, and this is what I know
some days you just have to go with the flow

What are your thoughts for today? Care to share?
I love this, True. It feels like a January Wednesday for sure. I too hope the ducks and goose make it through. I love the line "who will pick us up when life falls apart?"
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend! February has arrived and I hope for brighter sky.
DeleteThe captured the gloom of grey winter well.
ReplyDeleteThe long grayness of winter seems unending but, I know spring will arrive as it always does.
DeleteYes, some days you do have to go with the flow indeed. Hoping with you that the mallads and the goose mascot DO survive. And I hope with you even more so that the universe does have a grand plan which will be revealed soon!
ReplyDeleteI have been watching the goose closely as she cannot fly. The mallards come and go but, when here they are close to her side.
DeleteBeautiful with an overlay of gray.

ReplyDeleteGoing with the flow ....
DeleteTrue,
ReplyDeleteFantastic kind of gentle pick-me-up into better days.
We're all longing for brighter times in all ways...
Yes, we are all searching for better brighter days.
DeleteI love the repetition, the songs of the weeping willow.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yvonne
Delete"perched high on a branch caws a black crow

Love the rhyme, the images, the flow.
Thank you Susan! Winter feels a bit Poe-ish as everything seems dead waiting for buds of spring.
DeleteI felt so happy reading your lines Truedessa. Beautiful rhythm and flow here. In spite of the darkness the thought of Spring on the horizon makes your heart leap.
