Oh, this is painful. We are left wondering about it, for that is all what is left of it — that refrain is at the center of this verse. And that last parting line is well done.

ReplyDeleteI really "feel" this one, True. I'm a big fan of closure. I can live with a break-up, or when someone stops answering my emails, etc., but I have to know why!
ReplyDeleteParting is such sweet sorrow, Shakespeare seems appropriate. You've encapsulated a real heartbreaker.

ReplyDeleteI like how the repeating line and the ending rhyme tie the rest of the poem together. Nice sound. I particularly liked the descriptiveness of this line: "you waltz the other way".
