Two Sides

Your call heads or tails
flipping a coin where will it land
will the outcome balance the scales
fate awaits at the toss of a hand

Smiling you call heads
sure that life will go your way
coasting downhill,  shiny red sled
cutting through strife, another day

I stand there tails on my side
majestic bird waiting for flight
where it  lands, wind it's guide
touched my sympathy of his plight

Your call heads or tails
could life be a game of chance
flipping a coin how far will it sail
are you willing to learn it's dance

Together different sides of a coin
but, there is hope when two join

  1. I really enjoyed this. When my children were little we would get in a car and flip a coin and see where we end up.

    1. So many things are decided by a flip of a coin..thanks for visiting..I hope you ended up in the seat of your choice.

  2. I am glad the outcomes in life are not totally determined by the flip of a coin! I hope that life is not only chance, but I definitely believe that sometimes chance plays a part in outcomes. Example -- two people meet because they are at the same place at the same time; or two cars collide on an icy street because of chance! I like your last stanza, and the thought that 'there is hope when two join.'

    1. I think we all face choices each day and I for one would not want my fate to be decided my a toss of a coin. I agree with you Mary I do think chance plays a part in outcomes. Interesting comment thanks for the prompt.

  3. heads or tails, life is choices, little moments that alter eternity. Can we determine our fate? now there's a question. Nicely written and crafted.

    1. I think that is a question that we just don't know the real answer to so we try to make choices the best we can.

  4. Of course one could cheat
    Leaving the other always beat
    Two headed coin coming due
But that I would maybe sorta never do lol
So much better when the two can join though
Knowing the outcome whatever is to show

    1. That is true one could cheat
with a two headed coin in view
better for two minds to meet
      then light might shine through

  5. heads or tails...sometimes we have to decide which path we walk and depending on our choice our life will look different in the future but def. cool if two join and make everything balanced a bit more

  6. i hope not to face life with a coin...leaving it to chance, but when we make a decision we branch off a potential road....what could have been....ever changing the future....

    1. I think we all face choices in life which road to travel can be hard to decide but, leaving it to chance can be risky..as you only travel this life once..make it the best you can..

  7. sometimes the choice of a path comes down to a whim or a "gut" call..something we all go through at one time or another...

  9. Two sides of a coin, two paths ahead, and the aftermath of taking the wrong turning - one I know too well........yet in the end, I suppose, it is all The Path, regardless of the turning.......well done, my friend.

    1. Hi Sherry,

Sometimes we just need to wait for better timing then the path becomes clear. Is there a wrong path? I'm not sure as we learn
in the journey whether we go right or left it's all part of the walk.

  10. I love your take on the prompt. How many times have we flipped a coin wishing and hoping. Loved this, Truedessa.

  11. Often it doesn't matter who wins.. maybe flipping a coin is the best way.. it's still the same even if it has different sides.

  14. Turning the coin - sometimes can be just the distraction to win time...but really we need to heart our path...~ Last lines - my favorites.
