Dryad

Devoted heart, southerly breeze
beautiful dryad, spiritual lady
nestled within sturdy oak tree

cascading locks, twigs & bark
guardian of whispering woods
mythical being, songs of the lark

lovers composing poetry light on feet
wings of wild passion, urgent flight
leaves offer shade, cooling rising heat

human desire embracing natural world
entwined limbs reaching heavenward
soft petals flowers of love gently unfurl

  5. intertwined within a tree
Or beneath as two sway with glee
    Can't get better than that
A dryad might scare the cat lol

    1. intertwined within a tree
could be a nice place to be
but, might make the cat flee
and go on a rhyming spree

    1. Thanks Claudia, I was thinking of tree people after I had a dream so I wanted to honor the dryad in some manner.

  11. There is something very magical and majestic about trees--spanning as they do from the earth to the sky. A perfect place for your spirits to inhabit. Very nice work.

    1. Hi Steve,

Yes, trees are magical as they send their gentle messages in the breeze.

  12. Agree with Steve. I found this magical and perhaps just through my filter, it seemed quite Southern - I remembered the woods up the Appalachian trail where the deciduous blend with conifers and the thick layers of leaves beneath all year long lend a cushion of magic to the creatures and secrets that dwell there.

    1. Hi,

I was dreaming of warmer days as I live in the north but, I have felt the magic in the woods as if the trees were speaking directly to me. Thank you for your lovely comment.
