I have a
never-ending itch
seven days a week
barely scratching the surface of
my affliction
There is no magical
spray or lotion that can
soothe this restless heart
I inked you into my flesh
linking verses to ease the
rough bumps of
life
written for dVerse
a quadrille incorporating
the word itch using
44 words.

I don't think there is a cure but writing those verses do soothe and provides balance for the bumps in life ~ Thank you for being part of our journey ~ I still recall how you started, smiles ~

That's the beauty of having the itch. It makes it all the more interesting when it comes! Right on, True!

This sounds like poetry therapy:
ReplyDelete'I inked you into my flesh

Sure is one itch that doesn't have a cure. Although two could have fun trying to scratch it haha
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteAh....the soothing balm of writing!
ReplyDelete"I inked you into my flesh linking verses to ease the rough bumps of life".. this is heartwrenchingly beautiful!💖
ReplyDeleteLovely.
ReplyDeleteGo Zen--be the itch, hear me scratch and scrawl and type word balms.
ReplyDeleteNice! Only the pen can scratch this itch.
ReplyDelete"I inked you into my flesh" makes me think of people who get tattoos of their lovers' names, and then break up with them. There's an old quote related to that. I can't remember the exact wording, but it basically says that the only names you should ever get tattooed on your body are that of your children or your parents.
ReplyDeleteah well only the Poet's penned words can heal such, Nice write Truedessa
ReplyDeletemuch love...
Well-expressed. Don't know how I could survive without paper and pen.
ReplyDeleteNice last stanza about inking someone into one's skin with verses.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know that restless heart.........loved this one, True.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else have the experience of thinking that lotion rhymed with something in this poem only to find that it does not really but still feels that it does? For some reason the word "surface" evoked an ocean for me here, and that is what I heard in lotion, which is cool because we are all sort of ocean's. Nice poem
ReplyDeleteWriter's itch...let the ink flow!
ReplyDeleteWrite on, let it flow, a magical gift, you use words well *smiles*
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile!! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it seems unbearable...the itch that never subsides. I guess that is true love. For those of us that write, we have an innate gift of healing.
