These Tears!
Has life left you
broken, who holds the token
a token of hope,
in a world of confusion
gentle bruising
and contusions
could this be an
epidemic, call a medic
Today, do you live
in a state of fear
the world in civil
unrest, too much to digest
everyone hungry
for a taste of freedom
searching for
their Garden of Eden
These tears I cry,
I cry for you
let’s bury hatred
and past sorrows
plant new seeds
for better tomorrows
these tears I cry,
I cry for you
Yesterday's, lessons
shadows of the past
break the
stronghold of oppression
who will lead the
intercession
cast out demons,
humanity to stand fast
Today, let’s
strive for precious moments
inhale the
richness of happiness
exhale the pain of
strife, sadness
feel a healing, a
sense of newness
These Tears I cry,
I cry for you
let’s bury hatred
and past sorrows
plant new seeds
for better tomorrows
these tears I cry,
I cry for you
author's note: I wrote this a while back and read it at an open poetry mic and thought I would share it here tonight
let’s bury hatred and past sorrows
ReplyDeleteplant new seeds for better tomorrows....and good to water these seeds with out tears... and cool on performing it on an open mic night as well
Claudia,
DeleteThanks, I still get nervous about the open mic readings but, it is rewarding on a personal level.
I hope we can do this. Having riots in your home town - this hits close to my heart. the sentiment is just great, and I can actually imagine this being sung.
ReplyDeleteHi,
Deletethanks for the comment..I guess it could be a bit of a song as it has a lyrical feel. Perhaps, with a gentle guitar weeping silent tears.
and let there be tears of joy... loved the positive focus
ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteThanks for the comment it is always appreciated here in my space/place.

ayala,
DeleteThanks so much for stopping over for a read..always nice to read your comments.
on some level i think it is good our heart breaks for the world...and to see those seeds of a better tomorrow planted...it is each of our responsibilities...
ReplyDeleteBrian,
DeleteI think you are right if our hearts did not break we would not feel and I think it is better to feel the pain in the world for then maybe, change can happen within each of us..just a thought..
We really do need to bury hatred, to move on, to hope for a better tomorrow. We need to all find those precious moments and savor them.
ReplyDeleteMary,
DeleteI so agree..enjoy the moments in life as they are precious. Thanks!
A hopeful message, gently but firmly expressed. Precious moments of happiness will surely be welcomed by all.
ReplyDeleteHi Aprille,
DeleteThanks so much for the read and reply.
Amen! Powerful!
ReplyDeletethank you...
Deletemay it be so, may it be so.
ReplyDeleteOne can hope my friend..
DeleteLook at you go
ReplyDeleteBeing all wise at your show
A bit of breaking
Can leave one aching
And into a rebirth
Making a better earth
Now this niceness is through
I need to go back to being hateful at my zoo lol
I was wondering when you would appear
Deletethought perhaps you had disappeared
good to know you have a nice side (lol)
as you ride the waves of the tide
thanks for bringing some cheer
you've made my smile wide..
Wishing you a great night ....sleep tight..
The Cat's getting older
DeleteAnd a little bit bolder
Sleeping in like a king
Dreaming of that money thing.
The money is just a dream
DeleteNo cash stream lol
Had a vacation day
So was slow coming to play
A vacation day is great
Deleterelease some steam
or sleep and dream
maybe, open the gateway
or get away for the day
I know the cat will
always be back to play
Truedessa, love the refrain throughout this poem. A gentle piece of writing.

DeleteThank you for the read and reply. Have a great day!
The last time I cried was in 2008
ReplyDeleteWhen my poor Granny died all at ease with her fate
Life's about moments - some sour, some sweet
About goodbye's, shaking hands when you meet.
P.S. 'could this be an epidemic, call a medic'
is something our purring friend could've written too,
but then his next line would be about stinky feet and kitty litter poo. ;)
Hi Blue
DeleteI am sorry to hear about your granny
Loss is always difficult as we grieve
Tears can sometimes bring release
Life is about moments some hi
and some lows..I am a crier as
I feel things deep in my core..
I often identify with the weeping willow
as I cry upon my pillow.
Yes, that cat is clever with rhyme
and I am certain he could add a
line or two.
Wishing you a great day my blue friend
shall we sing a song as we dance under
a blue moon..
...i am glad you didn't go dark all throughout in this piece... that there's still lightness in your voice to savor the good memories.... freed a thousand drop of tears then rise up ever bolder and braver with a smiling aura... smiles... loved the palpable emotions you put here...
ReplyDeleteHi
DeleteActually, when I was writing this piece I was in a place of sadness. I tried to maintain some balance within the write as there is always hope even through eyes filled with tears. Thank you for the comments I always find them insightful.
I am so glad you commented at my site so I could experience this poem. A true depiction of empathy in its finest hour. Crying for others, for the world, may seem difficult, but when the facts are laid out, as they are here, what else is there to do but let loose with a full-moon cry? Peace, Amy
ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
DeleteThank you for coming over to read my work. I think sometimes all we can do is cry as we take in the view.. but, there is always hope for a better world.
I love how you played with the rhymes here, Truedessa!
ReplyDeleteHi

ReplyDeleteThank you for such a wonderful comment. I always appreciate replies
DeleteSorry I misquoted you "has life left u broken"
ReplyDeleteThat is ok no worries here..
DeleteIt seems that I'm not the only one that absorbs the grief and fear of others. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone..I often feel the pain of others and sometimes I have the need to express it through my writing. Wishing you peace!
