Blue Rose

How will I compare thee, for ye stand alone
an elusive blue rose, among the reds and whites
wonderfully enchanted, I softly moan
heavenly scent, reaching new heights

soft petals, glisten in the evening dew
thorns pierce the heart with loving verse
collapsing into sweet dreams of you
love in abundance, our souls converse

your vibrant hue sets you apart
many wonder where your garden grows
seeking your beauty, wondrous work of art
 behold the magical blue rose

unending hope lies within you
 remaining ever strong and true

author's note: For a Blue Friend...a new shade of blue..Happy Birthday from me to you!

  1. What an enchanting sonnet ... and with that little Will coming in there in the beginning... a blue rose sounds make me think about Burns as well.. Like this a lot.

  8. A blue rose you say
Pfft making things up at your bay
    But that is okay
Hope the blue friend is less blue at his bay
If it is the one I am thinking off
Either way the cat will be nice and send a dead dove
    A yummy snack right?
    Maybe in a certain light

    1. A blue rose I did say
      I'm not making things up
      of course they don't grow
      in the natural world..
that is why they are elusive...
      full of mysticism..
I'm glad the cat will be nice
      perhaps, he should eat mice
he can't eat a dove a symbol of love

    2. Doing much better. Thank you, Pat.

    3. The dove is yummy
      In the cat's tummy
      And glad grumpy goo
Isn't so grumpy at his zoo

Oh and there is a plan
      You may be a fan
Create blue roses by the ton
Sell them, then off to bora bora we'll run

    4. That's a plan, alright!

    5. @Pat

So the cat swallowed the bird
you naughty cat, at your mat
a new plan today, at your bay
well, this one is a bit better
      I might say..

@Blue, so you think the cat
      has an alright plan...

    6. (whispering) Ssssssst.... It's a diversion... I'm being a cat-patting double agent here. (end of whispering) What do you mean, Truedessa? Of course I think the Cat has an alright plan. We need the dough to fly our handsome behinds too that Bora Bora kitty litter beach. It might work.

    7. Oh Blue,

I haven't a clue about all these plans
but, it would be nice to get to the
white sands of bora bora land..

    8. Have you not robbed that bank yet? I saw The Cat 'wants' you too.

      plan.

  12. Dear Truedessa,

Let me take off my Sillycap for a moment and respond the way proper grownups do. I just read your poem and let me tell you, dear, I'm as speechless as I will ever be. Thank you so much. No one's ever written a poem for your blue friend before. Except for The Cat that is, but never a sonnet. I'm touched and all smiles now. Thank you. My birthday's on Friday, so I'll consider this an early birthday present, and you know I'll have this one printed and framed... if only to stay true to my unrelenting vanity and my innervoice that can't believe you would write such beautiful lines for me.

    1. Hi Blue,

First, I am glad you are feeling better and I hope this lifted your spirit. Please consider this an early birthday gift as this is what it was intended to be. I've added a notation under the author's note.

I wanted you to have something special to read when you are feeling blue..and you know strength always lies within you it's true.

You lifted me up when I was feeling blue. You made me smile and I told you smiles go miles and always will in my book.

Have a beautiful day inside and out...

      Truedessa

    2. The cat just threw up in his mouth a little bit, mushy stuff blah, or maybe it was a hairball.

    3. Why am I not surprised haha Better read that again, Cat: 'You lifted me up when I was feeling blue.' Ooooh he's such a jealous kitten, Truedessa. Better write something for him one day. Maybe I should do it.

    4. Pfft wait until Friday at my bay, I'll have the both of you on display

      Delete
    5. @Blue - I will write something for the cat if he would like one day..I'll have to ponder what to say. We better watch the cat's display who knows what he might say come Friday.

@Pat - What is this cat up to at his bay..what will Friday bring????

      Delete
    6. That cat will let the pictures do all the talking
      As all come a gawking

      Delete
    7. @Pat - Hmmm..the cat has pictures you say
well, this should be some eventful day
You have me a bit curious you see
as I want to know what will be
Now, cat see what you've done
I won't be able to sleep under
      the midnight sun..zzzzzzzzzzzz

      Delete
    8. The only pictures he's got
Are pictures of his own furry butt
Found them on youtube... some kind of show
Better not be curious, Truedessa for it's a definite no-no
'Cause if you check out those pics you'll find
Your eyes start to itch and then you'll go blind
Good thing I've got my special x-ray shades for protection
Or I'd be a victim of that kitty Cat infection. ;)

    9. Hey Blue,

      What are you up to?
      No pictures you say
      I should stay away?
      Perhaps, I need to
      borrow your shades
      but, tomorrow is your
      special day...
