Behind the Cloak

Will you miss me when I'm gone
did I mean anything at all
as darkness turns to dawn
clasp the shawl  of early  mourning
came with no hazardous warning

Too afraid to gaze into my eyes
as my ghostly spirit passes by
in the light no place to hide
will you turn & walk away
broken heart  would you pray

On bended knee,  in despair
reveal yourself behind  the cloak
haunting chill fills the air
will your words make you choke
on salted tears, craving a smoke

No need for a sympathetic  apology
symphony of my life, playing on a violin
deliverance,  heart- wrenching  eulogy
memories, faded photos of another time
peaceful  harmony , melody of wind chimes

Taste of sweet wine,  poison upon thy  lips
love is a tragedy, Romeo & Juliet
desiring  to grasp the cup, indulge in sips
tis, not our destiny to decide, tragic fate
toast to everlasting peace,  open the gate

I think we all wonder at times would we be missed. So many people touch our hearts & our lives.

  2. Yes, loss can come with no warning, making shock and mourning so painful. You caught the sense of loss in every line. Well done.

Can we expect those hurt to turn around and be friendly again? Different people react differently and one has to accept whichever outcome. Great write Trudessa!

    1. Brian,

That is all we can hope for in a time of grief. Memories will become precious, in theory that is what
we create each day as tomorrow today will be memories.

  6. Something I think we all wonder, how we will be remembered, how we will be mourned; what becomes of all the passion felt. Lovely.

    1. I guess that is why we should try to live today in fullness as no one is promised tomorrow but, our hearts will beat on in the hearts of those we touched.

    1. Hi Sherry,

So nice to see you here and I thank you for the wonderful reply. I can imagine you would have wood chimes as the whispers of the trees can play you a melody. A spiritual verse perhaps.

      Hope you are well...

  11. I think people are here for us... with us... for as long as they were intended to be. I know that I hope that someone will remember me.

I've been involved in family tree work... and have found some names that were long lost to us. When I know more about these people and who they were (are), I say their names aloud... and wonder when was the last time that there names were announced that way.

    1. Hi Shoes,

I am happy to see you here. I agree with you that people are here for as long as they are intended to be. On a broader spectrum I also believe that people come into our lives for a purpose it is part of the journey or quest as I call it. Each person being connective and relative to the grand scheme of the universe. I thank you for being part of my journey a pleasure my friend. We share the spiritual world Monument Valley where the fire bird hovers. I am sure you will be remembered in the hands of time.

Oh, and I like that you are tracing your family tree and remembering those lost in time. It is good to say their names aloud as it is acknowledging their existence.

so, I will end this with a HAR!!! had to throw that in so humor me.

      (laughing)

hope you are enjoying your weekend..

    2. Hey you... I enjoyed being here... :o)

I do agree that people come into our Lives for a reason... a lesson to be delivered, or maybe an experience to be experienced.

I am SO pleased to have you consider me a part of your Journey... I do love Monument Valley and that area so.

I did a blog post a while back... someone asked in a text message if I would be remember... if I would leave a footprint. The truth of the matter is that we really don't know... do we??

I have lost colleagues and friends to death at work... and it seems that within two years, there are no students remaining who knew these people. How sad.

In my family tree work, I have learned that two of my distant (by time) family members fought at Vicksburg during the Civil War. I found their names in the State Memorial there, and made a point to say their names aloud and hear it echo within the confines of the building. When their names are repeated, do their souls.. spirits feel that vibration?

And in keeping with the levity... HAR!!!!

Sometimes I get too serious in my comments and posts!!!!

      Namaste, my friend!!

    3. Hi Shoes,

I don't mind serious comments..as I am a dreamer and a thinker so I find ALL conversations interesting. I would like to think we all leave footprints..do we know for sure..I guess not..but, then again it is my belief that there is another place waiting. How can there not be?

I believe the spirits hear and feel the vibrations especially when you say it more than once. I am into meditation and find a strong sense of peace and balance when I am in another zone. I know you felt the spiritual world at Monument Valley that is why it remains within your heart. You felt the magic. Hold on to that always.

      Now, I am getting serious..lol

      Namaste..hands folded with a bow..

  13. Come and go it does
With a loss and love buzz
    Sometimes we wonder indeed
Who is thinking at their feed
But then i really don't care
Gone and move ahead at my lair
    Think what they will
I'll move ahead and get another bill lol

    1. Hi Pat and the cats,

      Some come and some go
i guess it's the way it flows
      hopefully, we feel the afterglow
or perhaps, the beauty of a rose...

      think what you will
      as you pay those bills
      I'd rather have a thrill
      as I roll carefree downhill..lol..
