I Want To Run

I want to run with warrior feet
barefoot to the drummer's beat

I want to run to the buffalo's song
my spirit in tune, singing along

I want to run on open prairies
nibbling on wild wolf-berries

I want to run to the highest cliff
reading ancient stories in petroglyph

I want to run beyond my dreams
resting where it's quiet and serene

written for Poets United
Mid-Week Motif - Running

Thank you for reading!

  8. I really enjoyed that. Very nice rhythm. And that's definitely the first time I've ever seen "petroglyph" used in a poem. Love that!

    1. Thanks Silver,

Well, I am glad I am the first you've seen use that word. Have you ever seen and read their early stories?
