love me not like a straight and narrow path
but, love me on a jagged road, discovering curves
Love me not like a beautiful sunny day
but, love me on a rainy day drenched naked
love me not like a perfectly groomed flower
but, love me with sprawling roots of a weed
love me not like an ocean of tranquility
but, love me riding dark turbulent waves
love me not, on perfected wings in flight
but, love me on broken wings learning to fly
love me not with soft shimmering candlelight
but, love me with intense fire burning our souls

I think I put my own spin on the prompt
Thanks for reading!
That's right! Don't just love me when things are going well. That's too easy. Love me when things are really awful, then maybe I'll believe your love is true.
ReplyDeleteDamn straight!
DeletePerfect! Love me when things go wrong, not just when everything is going right.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alex and sometimes you have to weather the storms!
DeleteThat is how love should be. Such a beautiful series of images.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah
Delete"Love me on a jagged road"....how I love that! And I especially appreciate "love me on broken wings learning to fly." This is a joy to read, True. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry jagged roads can be the best
DeleteIn sickness, for poorer, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe picture is quite beautiful and purrfect for this verse.
Ha - I was thinking more on the lines he loves me, he loves me not.
DeleteBeautiful via negativa couplets, and I also get the echoes of 'he loves me, he loves me not', Truedessa! I especially love:
ReplyDelete'love me not like an ocean of tranquility
but, love me riding dark turbulent waves'
and
'love me not, on perfected wings in flight
but, love me on broken wings learning to fly'.
Thank you Kim for visiting and the lovely comment.
DeleteSure the truest of love indeed. There when crap happens and even stronger for it.
ReplyDeleteLife is filled with trials and tribulations, it builds character I guess.
Delete'love me not like an ocean of tranquility
ReplyDeletebut, love me riding dark turbulent waves'
I love this whole poem, but I relate deeply to these lines.
Thank you Sara, I am not sure if it met the prompt, but it is what my muse wanted to say.
DeleteLove the contrasts and how you negate the cliches of what love should be.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bjorn, interesting prompt.
DeleteThese two lines stood out for me: "love me not, on perfected wings in flight
ReplyDeletebut, love me on broken wings learning to fly"
And when one loves on broken wings, there is strength.
Deletelove me not with soft shimmering candlelight
ReplyDeletebut, love me with intense fire burning our souls
To love not by acts easily seen but more from sincere feelings in the inner self. The latter accords deeper meaning to what love is! Endorsing very much such a contention, True!
Hank
Hank, very lovely description of true love...
DeleteI love your contrasts in this one!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and leaving a comment!
DeleteLove me wild, Love me true! I like this response to the prompt.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lynn!
DeleteThis is perfect!!! So well written Truedessa!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading and commenting :)
DeleteLove your challenge to your lover to love you for all your facets, in all times and places. That’s what unconditional love means, I think.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah!
DeleteHi Truedessa - that's life ... we need to be there in times of good and difficulties ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThe good, bad and the in between times. It's all part of life.
