The Drums of Change

Down by the river we travel by foot
our moccasins worn, covered in ash & soot
with anticipation we hurry

prepare yourself for a spiritual journey
darkness grows in the night, the moon
will be our guiding light

the ancient ones call us onward

the healing song draws us nearer
we gather around the fire as one
open your heart, mind and soul

mysteries of the night awakening
each beat of the drum vibrates life
what will you offer to the sky,
 earth, sun and healing waters

sing the songs that link our world

sacred medicine wheel nourish our body
shake away any  earthly blues, grant
us  some refreshing news, as we walk
in uncertain times

close your eyes, follow the beat
release positive energy into the river
drifting downstream to meet the
ocean,  waves of hope

we are the stones, broken from rocks

it's our life quest to smooth and polish
the jagged edges and find the hidden
beauty of our existence in the universe

if your heart is wounded, seek healing
find your sacred place in the wilderness
listen for the heartbeat of mother earth

cleanse the womb, rebirth awaits

  1. Your writing is so visual - I can see the gathering so clearly.

  2. This is so glorious. I walked with you to the sacred fire, saw you crrying your drums, "we are the stones, broken from rocks". I would have loved to be there, hearing the drums, watching shadows flickering on faces in the firelight. My new favourite of yours.

  4. A healing by following the beat, sure would be grand. The jagged edges can bring forth some of the best moments.
