How many lives will be sacrificed
how many empty chairs will there
be around the table of thanksgiving
in the years to come
To mask or not to mask
that is the question many ask
I wonder if it saves a life is it
really too much to ask, it
seems like such a small task
we need to alter our plight
and offer a hand to those
less fortunate
it's not about you and me
it's about unity we are all
in this together
at the table of thanksgiving
what will you contribute
will you offer prayers of
thanksgiving for life, health
family and friends
we as humans are striving to survive
in a world filled with harsh realities

Yes, it's -- boggling.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed "harsh realities"
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog today
Much🖤love
This is beautifully spoken dear Truedessa! It seems a simple thing to do all we can to protect each other, but so many have made it complicated. Like Qbit said, it is boggling!
ReplyDeleteIt's about choice and should always be choice not law - and people need to make the right choice.
ReplyDeleteWe always spend Thanksgiving just the two of us so no big deal.
You have a good Thanksgiving, Truedessa.
And when they refuse?
DeleteThis is truly elegant and wise and generous. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteYes, thank you for pointing out, poetically, these truths.
ReplyDeletelets work together to save lives
ReplyDeleteYes, life is harsh these days. Your line above not within the poem but rightly the call of hope for everyone come Jan 20th - no more Blondie!

Mammon rules. Profit and the economy is God...human life a statistic...consequences of a greedy secular world. Take care sit quietly ponder and think geraniums:)
ReplyDeleteIt is sad that greed and profit is more important than human life. In reality it has always been the way. There is always an agenda.
DeleteWell said...
I saw somewhere that if we stay home and dont gather this year, there will be fewer empty places at gatherings next year. That really says it all.
ReplyDeleteSo simple but still, people find it so difficult to do. Thank you for sharing your beautiful words. Be well! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteEvocative and beautifully penned. My grandson's wife has been tested positive, so our Thanksgiving is canclled. We will cook and deliver their dinner to their porch.
ReplyDelete"life, health, family and friends," for sure to be thankful for these and pray for their continuation. My vote it "to Mask."
ReplyDelete..
Perhaps, in the smaller tables and the prayers for those absent, the sense of community connections will return? Become evident? Wonderful meditation on decisions and consequences.

This is a tough fight, especially when lies are spoken each day. Great poem, Tru!
It all seems so simple to me. Mask to save lives. Staying home at Thanksgiving this year could save lives. Hope people do this! Have a happy Thanksgiving, Truedessa.
