Two Little Stones and the Bell Tower

Columcille Megalith park

Dancing with a dream

amidst giant megaliths

two little spirited stones sing

take us to the bell tower,

listening to the hymn of the land

an offering of gratitude

"The way you think it is, may not

be the way it is at all"

Author's note:  Over the summer, I spent an amazing day at Columcille Megalith Park located in the Appalachian Mountains. It was an honor for me to dance upon the land of a dreamer. At the end of the day,  there were two small stones that caught my eye. I wanted to take them home with me but, I heard a whisper,  a song, take us to the Bell Tower and that is what I did.  To read more about the Bell Tower and the quoted line in the poem please visit here.

Thank you for visiting

Thank you Brendan for sharing your poetry and the land.

    2. When I picked up the stones my palms warmed and I could feel their energy. I wanted to bring them home with me but, then came the song they had another place to belong.

  3. Isn't this place connected with Brendan, Truedessa? I'm getting chills up my spine about the spirited stones calling to you and asking to be taken to the bell tower.

  5. I wonder if your stones were inhabited by the people who built the megaliths? They wouldn't have had much time for Colmcille and his Christianity. Perhaps they wanted to make sure Oran's spirit never got out :)

    1. They were definitely emitting energy and when I placed them in the bell tower I could see two faces with a smile just has the sun peeked out of the clouds. It was the right thing to do in the moment. The stones belonged on the land.

    1. It was magical and inspired by Brendan’s poetry and the dance of a dreamer. I am honored to have heard the call of a dreamer to dance on the land of mystical dreams. I have written many poems about that which spoke to me that day. I hope to return in the spring.

  7. A lovely tribute to Columcille, which I have read so much about at Brendan's. I'm sure in places like that, one can feel the life of stones, and hear the dancing music of the earth.

    1. Thank you, yes one can definitely feel the stones and hear the songs of the earth. There is a connection to something greater than meets the eye. I had a dream that I needed to travel there and to bring honor to the dream. I set out on a road trip to new discoveries.

  9. I love that the two stones spoke to you.....there were a few years when I was here in Tofino the first time, when I found heart-shaped rocks everywhere. Rocks speak to me, too. I really love this poem.

Ps I love heart shaped stones. It’s funny how these call to us in our journey, a sign for sure.
