Heavy is the crown of thought
a constant reminder of what is lost
living by the sword of one's words
under the misty veil dreams are stirred
defending a kingdom, that's lost its way
how many demons must we slay
before our hearts love

I wonder that too. Lovely to see you posting, my friend. The third atmospheric river will hit here overnight, danger of flooding. I am a bit freaked but hope to not have to evacuate. If I go quiet it is because our power is off. It likely will go out. We are expecting extremely heavy rain and wind. Worse than the first two "rivers". Where the flooding is extensive, this third wave is a disaster. Really terrible. E you on the other side. Tomorrow, if I still have power.
ReplyDeleteI like those last two lines, especially.
ReplyDeleteThe sword of words can be most destructive or can help heal. Words once spoken cannot be brought back again. Great poem Trudessa.
ReplyDeleteIndeed it can be heavy! I loved the gentle rhyme and the message 💕☺️
ReplyDeleteWonderful.....and in particular that amazing, really amazing line...'living by the sword of one's words'
ReplyDeleteAh that sword of words and question to love. Great, where the prompt took you

I love the very concept of your poem, Truedessa - how wise this is.

I suppose the answer is to make sure that our words are good ones, our intentions laudable.
ReplyDeleteHeavy thoughts as our mind is never still.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful and true lines Truedessa. I love this and can relate. I hope all is well with you these days.
ReplyDeletehow many demons must we slay
ReplyDeletebefore our hearts love
Love the story-line, True, of having to put up with a lot before we get a chance to do good or to be rewarded.

The message you give us is a beautiful one. Maybe one day...we won't have to slay.
