I.
Walking the avenue of pines
a lion saunters on the
grassy side, entering
a portal in a tree
II.
a rope ladder, leading upwards
to the sound of a pounding drum
The stars and moon glisten in the night
we the poets and storytellers leaving
messages for generations to come
IV.
Through the haziness a vision appears
in the desert sun two snakes hiss
where the cactus blooms
V.
Standing on the highest mountain rock,
a warrior, to the left a valley and to
the right a fading river, where have
the buffalo gone, the tribe wonders
VI.
Clinging to a sheer cliff, unable to find
the next foothold, adventure awaits
the choice is mine
VII.
Stepping into the enchanted circle of
oak trees, the center a soft bed of leaves
the invitation to journey is clear

Authors note: These are actual fragments from my dream journals
What a good idea. Wish I'd thought of that...going to the dream journal.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I have many journals to reference. A fun prompt.
DeleteThat was wonderful to know, about the travel journal. I thought the way nature was portrayed, in snippets, was enticing and exotic.
ReplyDeleteThank you nature will alway entice me.
Deletewhat intriguing dreams you have - and the fragment poem is such a good outlet for the journal - I especially loved:
ReplyDelete"The stars and moon glisten in the night

Thanks Laura, I tried to leave a comment on your poem but, I was unable. Thanks for hosting.
DeleteFragments of dreams. All sound so inviting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane, my dreams are vivid and full of color.
DeleteThe first one puts me in mind of Narnia.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Alex! Any dream with a lion and I know I am entering a special place.
DeleteYou have lovely dreams....
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim, occasionally they are not so nice and leave me in a state of worry.
DeleteTruedessa, to read your examples of being acutely attuned to this world gives me a range of emotions. I like the invitation of the last stanza.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting.
DeleteLike a surrealistic painting--you have vivid dreams!
ReplyDeleteThanks and yes they can be very vivid and I remember most of the details upon awaking.
DeleteHey True — I am in the half-sleep insomniac bloom of zolpidem, but I like your work. I will return when I am once again razored out to write a ringing comment! ✌🏼❤️
ReplyDeleteI love how you cut from your own journals, and I really love the fragments were so instantly yours.
