Frozen Piece of Time

into winter’s wonderland we are drawn
there is beauty in the new dawn

poetry scattered in morning frost
internal/external rhymes are lost

barren trees blanketed with ice
a crow searches for field mice

snowy owl swoops across the land
mystical sky low-laying clouds expand

written for dVerse
writing a 44 word quadrille - incorporating ice

author's note:  I was driving through the mountains
and near the peak the trees were covered with ice

  1. You Rhyme sooo good!! I love it. I too like the fallen snow, and ice is okay too. I've sledded the hills so very much in Nebraska. Played "Fox and Goose" to at school, recess and noon break. Be we hardly ever get any snow here in the Houston, TX, area.

    1. I think google doesn't like "too" but would rather change them to read "to".

    2. Thanks Jim, it sounds like you have fond memories of the snow. The ice can be dangerous for driving. The trees had snow but, it iced over . The mountains had a mystical feel, especially on the peak as the clouds were low and thick. Everything grey and white. I wondered where has all the color gone?
