Looking For Stars - No Matter How Far

artist Erik Johansson - Surrealism Artist

To truly see the stars and moon
one must rely on a special lens
its beauty makes poets swoon
inking words with a lover's pen

Zooming in with a telescopic eye
getting closer to the unreachable
gasping at the wonder of the sky
heaven's magic seems UN-attainable

Yet, I find myself surrounded by light
enchanted by the whip-poor- will song
breathing in the warmth of the night
here, I will dream until the break of dawn

  1. It does a person good to do some stargazing. Lots of magic there.
Best have mosquito spray if the night is spent.

    1. Jim, I do enjoy stargazing! If you are lucky, you might see a shooting star passing through the bug dipper.

  2. It would have been fun to be caught in the open but with a strong telescopic aid to wander through the night sky! Love your poem, True!

    1. Hank I do have a telescope and use it occasionally to gaze at the wonder in the heavens. But, one can still stargaze with the naked eye. Who knows there may be a dragon out amongst the stars.

  3. I love the idea of a special lens, Truedessa, and ‘inking words with a lover's pen’. The final stanza had me swooning too.
